Samuels Barker
Samuels Barker
can someone refresh my memory as to how this ended, did barker wallop him on the break after getting knocked down himself... ?!
Re: Samuels Barker
Yeah.. pretty much. I cannot remember if the knockdown of Barker was counted. Ref bottled it... should have been a no contest.

Re: Samuels Barker
Samuels caught Barker with a right hand , this caused Barker to touch down . Samuels thought that the ref would give a count, but Barker came straight up and caught Samuels with a left i think, anyway Samuels was out from it.
It was one of those where the ref should have given Barker a count but was a bit far away from the action, and Barker was up within a second of touching down. Samuels relaxed so it probably contributed to the power of the KO.
Anyway thats how i remember it.
It should that Barker can be hit and hurt, he's been down a couple of times now. But has the power to comeback from it.
Anyone see Samuels calling out the retired Wayne Alexander in BN?
I can see Wayne accepting the challenge.

It was an odd fight... but the ref didn't count Barker (prob didn't have time) so technically Darren had every right to knock Samuels out

I think that's about right.E wrote:stujones wrote:Yeah.. pretty much. I cannot remember if the knockdown of Barker was counted. Ref bottled it... should have been a no contest.

It's like with Steve Collins-Eubank 1, Collins got up so quickly and both carried on fighting, before the KD could even be called and both guys were allowed to get on with it,.
Re: Samuels Barker
Was it wayne he was calling out? makes sense that.

AS I understand Wayne suffered a bad injury when planning to come back.....and I think it just seemed too much at this advanced stage to come back.Wales wrote:Was it wayne he was calling out? makes sense that.
It's a shame Wayne was prob the best puncher of the last 20 year sin the UK and had that fragility that made all his fights exciting.
Unfortunately I understand he has money problems. It woul be good to have some benefit night I think.

Re: Samuels Barker
I remember this pretty well. Barker touched down with his left glove after Samules caught him. The ref was right there appeared to be on the verge of seperating the two and possibly issuing a count (he actually grabs Samuels right arm) but at that moment Barker threw a hook using the same left hand that was on the canvas and knocked Samules out.

Re: Samuels Barker
Should have been a NC, ref was a sham, BBBofC judgement was too.
No reflection on Barker.
No reflection on Barker.
Re: Samuels Barker
Easy to say from ringside or on TV but if you're in the thick of it, it all happended quickly for the ref.

Saw Wayne walking down the road on South London with a spring in his step the other day.. The fight would have to be at lt heavy!
