Ali- Young
I know some people think Young was shafted but it's hard to take away the champ's title when the challenger sticks his head outside the ring to avoid getting hit... He actually did it twice...

I watched this fight some time ago...I do recall that form of the
er rope-a-dope...
I remember thinking it was pretty close, but never kept score.

I thought that Young beat both Foreman and Ali, but Ali was far, far from his best. Basically, Young did just enough to lose against Ali, and you could also make the argument that Foreman did enough to beat him, too.

In the rope a dope, as you know, the other fighter gets to hit you...In this instance, Jimmy Young literally stuck his head out the ring as a wrestler would do to make the referee step in and call a break...Robinson wrote:I watched this fight some time ago...I do recall that form of the

The rope-a-dope is legal, sticking your head through the ropes isn't.Robinson wrote:I watched this fight some time ago...I do recall that form of the

Young won the fight. I don't know how many times it needs to be said before Ali's critics will be able to move on. But, as "theoneishere" stated, it wasn't the worst decision in history, either, and it certainly was not a definitive fight; Ali wasn't even a shell of his former self, and on top of it he was out of shape. This is quickly becoming the most overrated fight in history, and I'm frankly tired of hearing of it. Why don't we hear more about all the other robberies in Heavyweight history? Sharkey-Schmeling I, Sharkey-Schmeling II, Louis-Walcott I, Walcott-Charles IV, Holmes-Witherspoon, Holmes-Williams, Lewis-Mercer, Lewis-Holyfield I... people act as if Ali was the first or last Heavyweight champion to get a break. Jesus. Ali in his prime would have beaten Young, and that's the end of it. Ali's critics need to get a fornicating life.
Re: Ali- Young
Jimmy Young would have given any HW ever a hard night's work. I'm not saying he would beat prime Ali, Louis, Holmes, etc... but he would always be in close fights against anyone.
Re: Ali- Young
Guys... I was being sarcastic in my rope-a-dope comment..
hence they way I said it.

You could say the same about John Ruiz, only Ruiz was more fun to watch.Ezzard wrote:Jimmy Young would have given any HW ever a hard night's work. I'm not saying he would beat prime Ali, Louis, Holmes, etc... but he would always be in close fights against anyone.
