I hope so. I don't think he'd win but at least he'd get a nice payday.

Danny Williams vs John McDermott is now virtually a World Title Eliminator!

Maloney has been at the funny fags I reckon.

What he means is, if Danny wins he has a chance of fighting for the WBC belt.
If McDermott wins, no way in a BILLION years will he get a shot at Peter.

Hmm I wonder if Maloney (since when did he become Danny's promoter) could have got David Haye that shot if he'd stayed put.

No wonder Danny wasn't mentioned as a possible opponent for the O2 bill!!! The bill that never was going to happen.

Here's a thought - McCline sent Peter loopy with a clean shot and Danny, a fit and focussed Danny, hits way harder than McCline ever does. I'd certainly pay for a ticket to see it...

Danny has a punchers chance against anyone in the world. However, he is not hard to hit and is not very durable these days.

McCline might not be able to hit as hard as Williams, but he is harder to hit (due to his height mainly), more durable and as good if not better technically.

I think Peter beats him to the punch and KO's Danny (possibly on his feet) early.

I was just remembering what Vitali Klitschko did to Williams a few years ago. Not pretty.

no it certainly wasnt

but lets look at it

Danny came in way too heavy....but he had put in good performances at a higher weight b4...it just didnt work against Vitali .......danny needed to be much more mobile ...duck and get underneath to let the left hooks go.....we saw what Corrie sanders almost did....and corrie was only 6ft3 if that

by being too heavy and not working his feet Danny was picked off by klit

the two russians will stand with their feet sooooo wide apart it looks really unsophisticated (which explains why the klits are given such a hard time by everyone) they dont look like technically gifted boxers...they just set their feet wide and use their incredibly long arms to pick u off and keep out of danger.....the kos are good but the nervous build up is really boring

everyone knows that a skillful boxer will always beat them...unfortunatly their arnt many out there.

as for danny? faced with a smaller guy who is open ...id say danny always has a chance...he punches like dynamite

but he needs to retire soon

hes taken his licks and hes had a fantastic career

one last hurrah :box:

"Danny's defence ... is now virtually a world title eliminator "

Maloney is plagiarising Warren's heavyweight PR script.

i am still of the opinion that if Danny shows up trained, ready and prepared, he has decent chance of taking out anyone. He can pick a solid punch, and although prone to being hit, can take a solid Punch.

but it all comes down to IF, IF Danny Williams shows up.

I hear Danny's going to move down to cruiser to fight Maccarinelli for a vacant belt, most probably the WBO.

I don't think the Chagaev or Valuev winner is up to much and Danny could take either on his best night

I love Danny Williams. He has undeniable quality but you have no idea how he'll perform. Some fighters go in there and you know you'll get a hearted performance out of them - but Danny, you have no idea. Sometimes he comes in massive, seemingly depressed and disillusioned and next he's toned, self traind and pumped. After the Skelton loss, Danny seems to have turned it around. Went back to basics and is building from the bottom. He's a proper boxer and deserves a shot should he get past McDermott and I wish him all the best.

he didnt perform against audley in the 2nd fight...but in fairness audley let rip with some good shots from the off...

he didnt perform against sprott in the 3rd fight....a yawn fest

and skelton in the 2nd fight...(all of which is clearly a motivational thing)

he was supposedly ill with shingles ? against samil sam

his weight does go up and down but he usually gives everything when he fights

not many boxers could have taken out potter with a dislocated shoulder...or come from the brink of the abyss against tyson....or lasted 9 rounds with vitali's punishment.... or come out for war twice recently against euro prospects platov and airich

give danny his dues

hes a warrior :box:

How about he was just totally out of his depth at world class?

The fact the Danny almost got stopped in the first round against Vitali and was doing the electric boogaloo dance everytime Vitali caught him flush had fuk all to do with his weight.

Peter hits a LOT harder than Airich who was on the verge of stopping Williams. He has very little chance if this comes off. Take the blinkers off guys.
