Something funny going on

Post by Boxster-Man »

Dont you guys think there is something odd when Green firstly retires on the eve of a title defence whilst world champion and then Mundine talks of giving back the title belt and avoiding a fight with Kessler. Then the pair of them decide to fight each other. Its almost like they couldnt fight each other whilst holding the belts?

If Choc had vacated his belt there is no doubt the WBA would have slotted him into no.1 challenger at LT Heavy if that was the way he wanted to go, which he was making quite clear was not.
I still believe they have both given up their belts for seperate reasons. Choc because he was scared of Kessler and Green because he felt the fight game was over. Greens opinions have now changed and the rumoured amount of money would change any sane man's decision.Be interesting if the rematch happens, maybe Garay will be coming to Perth or the East Coast to defend the title rather than challenge for it....

Very good..thanks for the correction.....what was it, an interim title he seemed to hold forever ???
If he had the balls to fight Kessler he can now have a crack at the legit title.
As far a him not holding a title, even more reason the WBA would have elevated him to no.1 challenger at lt heavy if he made the move and requested it......he was still their golden boy for one reason or another !! Look at the bullshit matches they continuously allowed him to have.

Has Green decided to fight or not? Last i heard he was leaning towards it (Hell! With somebody offering you $5,000,000, win lose or draw, to fight you would have to think about it!) but had still not made a decision.

By the way, Garay won the vacant WBA Light heavy title against some Russian on points. Boxrec still only rates him at 12.

He deserves no higher ranking. His opposition (except for Erdei who has lost to twice, and his latest win) have not had great records. His fight against Green was a big step up for him. He was expected to test green, but I don't think anyone would have bet their house on him.
