George Groves and Michael Maguire
A few weeks ago it was announced that both these big amateur stars would be turning professional, but so far no dates have been given out when they will have their debuts. Tyson Fury announces he is turning professional and straight away September 6 is confirmed as his debut. I know David Haye is fighting on November 29, and both Maguire and Groves are Hayemaker fighters so that would seem a logical date for them to turn pro, but four months seems an awful long time for them to wait for their first fight. I think any prospect looking to take the game seriously has to be looking to fight at least six times a year. My fear is with Groves, Maguire and other prospects under the Hayemaker banner is they may be simply be not active enough. I hope I'm wrong as they are great additions to the game.

I’ve heard that Hayemaker have a show September, probably in Sheffield.

That will be Ryan Rhodes making the first defence of his British title on Setanta, that makes sense now. Maybe twenty-six has more details about this show?

Groves has agreed with Hayemaker to turn pro with them, but as i understand it. He may not be turning pro just yet.

From Groves "We're still in discussions. There are still options to stay amateur but the next couple of weeks are going to be about big decisions.
"The situation is that when I do decide to go pro Hayemaker have got first choice and that could happen tomorrow, it could happen in four years' time.
"They want to be associated with me and I want to be associated with them. I want to achieve my full potential and be pushed to my limit and the bottom line is I'm excited about the prospect of training with them."

Haymaker have their deal with Setanta, and as such have an obligation to fill their quota of dates throughout the season.
It's not just about when David Haye fights.
As soon as it is appropriate, I'm sure Haymaker will announce their dates and headliners.
Remember we are in the "close season" so things will inevitably be quiet.

Just to clarify, Haymaker's contract with Setanta starts on 01-09-08.

Will David have a hands on approach with these promotions, as this will be in the middle of his training schedule won't it?

Ahh yes all that shit and enough time to sort out the wrangling with lawyers who will in turn sort out disputes with others in the boxing world.twenty six wrote:It is - but until everything is announced officially details can't be revealed.
The rumours circulating are saying the show and the undercard could be interesting, it will have people muttering, the normal shit that frank w arren is finished, on that one they could not be further from the truth.
Am I warm?
