David Barnes v Junior Witter anyone??
Could be a good route back to a world title shot for "The Hitter". He could fight Barnes then a top Euro level fighter and then have a crack at his old WBC belt (If Bradley wants a rematch) or go for Kotelnik who he has already beat.

It appears that this will have to be the route that Witter takes, though I doubt that Bradley, Kotelnik or anyone for that matter will be giving him a shot anytime soo...his performances are just too dire when the world is watching to make it worth their while.

This is the fight that poppede in to my head while I was watching the fight yesterday, as Barnes reminds me somewhat of Witter, however, I think Witter would take it fairly comftably.. aslong as he didn't grow old over night v Bradley.

Too much of a comedown. If you could tell me taht he could fight branes and thena top European/world opponenet in the next 6 months I would say OK then
But we know if he fought Branes he wont figth again for another 9 odd months
Hennessey needs to pull his finger out . Get him a rematch with Timothy Bradley where Junior will have to accept abysmal money, or think about retirement

If Witter can't get up for Bradley, what hope for Barnes - What a step backwards if he was to take it.
He needs a quick return, but not at domestic level - It's all quiet from the Hennessey camp.

Isn't Witter the mandatory for the European title? How long will he have to wait for that fight?
If he can get the Branco fight within a reasonable amount of time then a British title fight is really a waste of time for him.

Fair point @ coco. Even more abysmal than usual then
I'm still so very pissed off with Witter about the Bradley fight. Everything was set up for him to look good. Bradley had a crowd pleasing undefeated record, hadnt thought anyone, wasn't particurarly hard punching, quick, strong, cute or anything. It was on ITV primetime, couple of weeks before Hatton fights, perfect opportunity to put real heat on Hatton and get the public talking. And he goes and blows it. Irks me pretty much everytime. Anyways, its done now

Re: David Barnes v Junior Witter anyone??
Is Barnes tied to anyone, Promotionally ?
Friday's show was Hearn (Matchroom).
If he's a free agent then there's a vague chance, if he's tied to anyone then no chance.
The other Promotors have Hennesy on the back foot, and with respect, Junior is in the "who needs him" camp due to poor TV showings.
I really feel for Junior, particularly if Coco is right about the purses Junior's received.
I've said it on other threads, I seriously can't see a way back for Witter, without meaty Mick offering big money to the other corner - and to do that you need to generate money through TV etc.
How do you begin to do that with Junior ?

Re: David Barnes v Junior Witter anyone??
He got him more than Warren got him in fairness. And 6 figure purses (which I think he made at least once) would hardly be sneezed at by most. Witter needs to fight more oftenCoco wrote:Hennessy always got Witter abysmal money anyway!lefthook82 wrote:Too much of a comedown. @PN
Fair enough. Showing my ignorance their. I would have assumed that Warren = more money but obviously that is not the case with Witter
Either way he needs to be fighting at least 3 times a year with his style. When was the last time he did that

PN,
Is your info re Witter's purse money from a reliable source ?
I dont know who you are or if you're in the business, but I do believe Coco's info.
Informally, I understand Witter has NOT drawn 6 figures at any time in his career.
