Sounds like he's doing the right thing. I was thinking the dangerous Campbell was probably in his future at some point, but then Nate had an even more shocking loss than Arthur last week. He mentioned the good sparring he had with Alex after the fight, and how he'd blown it.
Alex sounds confident as ever, he's young enough to come back an even better fighter....with a defence.
It's great to train with Roach for a few months, but he really needs to get himself a top class full time trainer - Freddie cleary isn't up to it, that's twice he's a no show.

To be fair to him, I think getting the living shit drilled out of you has a tendancy to bring out the worst in some people, he must have felt pretty humiliated.
Although, when you think about it now, how out of character (or rather how false was Hamed's public persona) was his humility after getting 'boyed' by Barrera.
I thought Hamed showed a hell of a lot of class that night, if not in his performance, then certainly in the dignified way he took defeat like a man.

But then to go and mess it up with his attitude post snorefest against calvo didnt help himself add that to the his "will he wont he" messing around of Brodie for 18 months and hamed returned to usual form.
Maybe Im being a bit harsh on Arhtur, i used to like him I was just totally and utterly shocked by his attitude both in the ring and out of it then night of the gomez fight. its the rugby ethic in me, take your victories and defeats in good gracious manner.
Perhaps he has learned a lesson I dunno time will tell. Could be good thing for him that defeat in the long run, tame the cockiness a bit.

I think the important difference is that in Rugby you don't get humiliated like a boxer does. In a team sport there is collective responsibility, in a boxing ring there is nowhere to hide, and the defeat is absolute when you get knocked out.
I think that's why boxers make more excuses than other sportsmen at times, I don't think there is a more humiliating feeling in sports than being knocked the fornicate out, or perhaps even worse saved by the referee after being beaten like a wayward child.

true, but I still find it less than pleasing to hear some of the excuses that are given and the derision to which some fighters treat their losses.
But point taken you do stand alone more so than any other sport, just think it can be seen as sour grapes when you to hear some of the comments dished out rather than the sportmanship and respect you normally see between fighters after they have contested.
In fact perfect example recently was Dale against booth, post bout interview Dale while obviously dissapointed in a very close contest could only have credible and reasonable things to say. Thats real sportsmanship....perhaps we take that for granted sometimes in the game.

As for Alex Arthur, he seems not to know how to deal with the Gomez lose, seems to becoming out with one story after another. It's very easy to get a reputation of being a bad loser in this sport and if Alex is not carefull, he will get labled as such.
It's time for him to let his fists do the talking. The guy has talent, lets hope he has the drive and maturity to put the Gomez fight behind him and rebuild his career.
