This is Enzo (and FW's) best chance at beating David Haye, because in 12 months he will rule the world, but I still reckon Big Dave will do him.
It would make a very refreshing change to see 2 up and coming stars fighting each other. It seems that allegedly is offering the fight so he seems keen and Dave has been saying from day one that he will fight any British Cruiserweight, so lets hope he doesn't bottle it (I'm sure he won't).
Boxing needs this fight.
If I'm not wrong, it won't last long
Theres not much in it and it won't last a minute

This would obviously be an exciting fight, but I will be shocked if it happenes anytime soon.bennie wrote:The Beeb are reporting that WBU cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli could face rising star David Haye in his next title defence.
Maccarinelli's promoter, allegedly, is understood to have offered Haye a shot at the 'world' title.
Interesting.
Either of them against Carl Thompson would be a cracker to.

For me the jury is still very much out on Haye, there's no way in my opinion he will rule the world in 12 months. He's had 9 gimme's already and still almost get clocked by a light heavy. There's no doubting his skills but there has to be a question mark over his whiskers, especially when you consider his non-existence defence.Chambers wrote:This is Enzo (and FW's) best chance at beating David Haye, because in 12 months he will rule the world, but I still reckon Big Dave will do him.
I think he needs to stop listening to his own publicity and knuckle down, he's way too KO happy at the moment and to me he doesn't look like he has developed much at all. A stint with a top trainer in the states would do him the world of good.
I'd love to see this fight. Like most others I'd be rooting for Haye mainly because it's clearly he who has the potential to move into world class one day. He has the ability to piss all over Enzo IMO, just not sure if he can stick to a game plan at this early stage.
So many uncertainties surrounding this possible showdown.

Haye isn't going anywhere unless he tightens up that defence, he pretty much seems to just ignore his defence, and concentrates on bombing his opponents out. The cruiserweight division isn't exactly replete with talent it must be said, but no way is Haye a world champion in 12 months.
Of the two, Enzo looks by far the better fighter, he has learned some defence, and boxes his way into getting openings for his clubbing shots.

Haye hasn't faced anything but utter pastries so far, so really all he is proven is that he can knock out journeymen and light heavyweights.
I don't think that many people are keen on facing him to be fair, but he needs some sort of test. He may be forced into taking a big leap up in class, which would be a big risk, but he can't go on fighting the level of competition he's fighting now forever.

I agree, I remember Haye losing on a Sky USA vs England Amateur show against nothing more than a tough cookie of a fight. Haye dominated the first two rounds, but alarmingly ran out of gas and in the end the American won (can't remeber if it was a stoppage or points) but Haye was exhausted and showed vulnerability after a brilliant start.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Haye hasn't faced anything but utter pastries so far, so really all he is proven is that he can knock out journeymen and light heavyweights.

I don't know why, but that fight has stopped me from really believing the hype. He impressed me early on with his pro career, I thought the knowing Tony Booth would have provided Haye with a few rounds. However, as has been mentioned - Haye really hasn't faught that much better opposition. It would have been nice to see him with Delaney and especially Swaby.
Agreed. I think it would be of massive benefit for Haye, if he fought Swaby before Enzo. His defence needs abit of tweeking007 wrote:he's way too KO happy at the moment and to me he doesn't look like he has developed much at all. I was hoping to see Haye be abit more careful when he fought Rasani, but he knew he could just to bomb this opponent out so he did, IMO when he fights the likes of Rasani he should be fighting as though he was fighting someone like Lee Swaby standing off him and picking his shots. I know it didn't happen, but when Haye is swarming all over Rasani if he (Rasani) just starts throwing the odd bomb and one connects we could be seeing a MockII. IMO he takes unnecessary risks.
I still reckon that no Cruiserweight in the world will be able to touch him in 12 months
