Why would it be cheaper for the fans to see Hatton fight in
Vegas as opposed to New york, as Ray Hatton claims?

His fans can get free drinks at the casinos in Vegas ![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

If you gamble, yes. Vegas flight is far far more. NY hotel is more, as is the cost of food.
However, Vegas generates more money for the fighter.

Emerson, was it you who was training for a 'white collar' fight? If it was, how did it go? (the training and the fight).Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:If you gamble, yes. Vegas flight is far far more. NY hotel is more, as is the cost of food.

I've been to both, don't see any difference. Think I'd do more money over 3 days in Vegas than NY.Khaosai-Galaxy wrote:Vegas is much cheaper than NYC, thats why

Oh come now,
Hotel in Manhatten Vs Hotel in Vegas, big effing difference same with the food/drink. NYC is an expensive town, no getting away from it
Stay off the tables and Vegas is way cheaper, and yes ive been to both
UNLESS
You are one of those people who if Hatton said "London is the capital of England" would spend 5 pages arguing that it isn't and that he ducked Jr Witter and quack quack quack
Re: Why would it be cheaper for the fans to see Hatton fight in
My mate is still destroying me in training. He used to be a good ABA fighter before he discovered pies, so probably not the best to compare against, but my knee is holding up so far. Just don't want to make anymore of a cock of myself than I normally do.Emerson, was it you who was training for a 'white collar' fight? If it was, how did it go? (the training and the fight).
There's only one White Collar gym in our area, from what I can find. Tempted to go to Errol Christies as I've heard good things about it.
Good memory, Sir!
Oh, and back on topic KG is right. If you don't gamble in Vegas they're probably about the same price. If you go clubbing it's a different matter.

I've done some thorough costings on the various locations for watching the Hatton fight and after extensive research I can confirm that, watching the fight on the settee in your front room with your muckas is by far the cheapest way to enjoy the Hatton experience. So you don't think it's cheaper? Me neither. Couldn't work out why Ray was saying it was such a big favour to the fans.Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:My mate is still destroying me in training. Hatton to fight in Vegas (not NY) as its cheaper for fans
Just when you think you've heard it all from these guys, read this gem:
Hatton's father and promoter Ray told skysports.com: "Although it would be great to top the bill at Madison Square Garden - even though he's only fought there once before - this is about the fans.
"His exact words were, 'Dad, the fans made me, so I want what's best financially for the fans. I want to make it more a price for them because it is near Christmas'.
"He's putting his weight behind Vegas because of the money the fans are going to save."
You think Hattons fans arent the brightest given their behaviour, and then you read this and I can assume they are the thickest, most gullible numbnuts on planet earth.
Dear oh dear...
PS: In reality, it's a blatant ramp to negotiate the terms of the fight definately happening at MSG anyway.

02 Arena holds more than most Vegas casinos if it has to be indoors!
Re: Hatton to fight in Vegas (not NY) as its cheaper for fans
Getting to Vegas is much more expensive (on direct flights) at least from the UK when there is a big fight on with a UK fighter due to the comparitive distance and number of flight seats. NY accommodation is more expensive but not so much that it would cancel out the saving on the flight.
Case in point if the Calzaghe fight moves from Vegas ot NY it will work out at at least £250 cheaper over 3 days.
The hotels will pay a nice site fee to get foreigners with disposable income in their casinos with the US ecomony in a downward spiral and that's what this is all about. Ray should have just owned up to going to the highest bidder rather than that embarrassing statement.

Are we to get threads every time a promoter makes a slightly ummmm "creative" statement when promoting a fight?
Or just when Britain's most successful fighter does, and some no-mark malcontent wants to show us how smart he is by seeing through these scoundrels with their Hellish lies?
?

Re: Hatton to fight in Vegas (not NY) as its cheaper for fans
NYC will be bordering on the snow in November.
Vegas will be cooler, especially at night, but will still be reasonable temps.
There is certainly more to do in Vegas.
I think the main thing though is, many people have been vegas in the last 18 months or so for Ricky and may just fancy going somewhere different.
This will definitely impact on the numbers for Calzaghe's fight, the fact that they are about 8 weeks apart and near xmas..... and with the so-called recession on its way too !
Fight fans aren't the richest are we ?

It makes me laugh to think there is anyone out there thinking the Hattons care about the fans.
Re: Hatton to fight in Vegas (not NY) as its cheaper for fans
I thought the fact that this is being discussed at all meant the thread starter if no-one else could benefit from a statement of what might seem obvious to others.Khaosai-Galaxy wrote:blah blah blah
Creative statements are one thing e.g the abilities of a boxer or the significance of a fight but to pretend you're changing plans as a favour to the paying public when you are doing the opposite leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Exactly. Utter, utter self-serving bullshit masked as doing his fans a favour. Garbage.nickd wrote:The UK is way cheaper for his legion of fans....
