No, it starts today. I'll post results as I get them. I know that there's a fair few people at 110 and 125, apparently. Marlen Esparza is at 110 for this one.

Yesterday was registration. Today is first day of bouts, starting at 6. Marlen Esparza is boxing the girl who won 110 the past 2 years. Apparently there are 4 at 114 (Sacred Downing, Keisher McCleod, and two others), and only 2 at 119. Whole bunch at 125 as well apparently. So far I've heard Lisa Kuronya is around, as is Francheon Crews (hopefully a rematch there if they're both at light middleweight). Pretty crowded this year.

No, Mel, I'm still in MT, just receiving updates. Wish I had went, I have friends down that way. But anywho, I'll keep you all posted on what's happening as we go along. Oh, and I don't know if you've ever met him at Nationals, but that dude who realllllllly likes the Female boxers is down there too. How he gets around, I do not know.

No - haven't a clue who he is. What's the deal?

Gina Deandrea and Marlen Esparza won on walkover. Patricia Manuel won big, as did Stephanie Han.

Ahhh - Trish is there! Yippee! She just got over recuperating from hand surgery. How did she look? She's one of my favorites and a really neat person.

Amy said she absolutely hammered the girl she boxed, and didn't see how the girl made it all 4 rounds. She said Trish came out with some huge body punches early and then looked like she was trying to stop the girl, tagging her with big right hands upstairs.

Tonight's bouts start in roughly 45 minutes. Last night, aside from the ones I mentioned before, Lisa Kuronya won, Carrie Barry won; those are the two off the top of my head. Tonight Sacred Downing boxes Ivet Pentcoatl, who's a very, very tough little boxer from Oregon who I've seen many times (last I ehard her record is 16-2), who just turned 17. It looks like Lisa Kuronya could be getting a rematch with Franchon Crews as well. I'll post when I hear what happens tonight.

Hah! Found Wednesday's results - thanks to a friend of mine in Florida. Kolya, see if you can find out what caused the walk-overs: no show, didn't make weight, etc.

First
Lisa is boxing at 145 so no rematch this tourney. Would like to see it happen tho....

And yes the shorty that loves the lady boxer is there... I call him the penguin....lol

As for the Inkrote vs Airall match, ha... this is a huge problem with the credability if the GG..... okay hear this one..... Joannah Airall was DQ'd because she is a Pro Kickboxer! She actually trains at the gym that is putting on this very GG tourney. So its safe to say the top organizers of this tourney knew her personally, trained her and were aware she had pro kickboxing matches. We all know once your a pro you are not allowed to compete as an amature! This should bring some heat on someone for being so stupid....

Who IS this guy!!! I must have seen him at some point. Maybe he'll show up at the PAL this year and ya'll will point him out.

The newspaper article I read mentioned the DQ due to the fact the girl had participated in pro kickboxing. So you are saying that Bonnie Canino knew this and allowed her to enter the tournament any way? Not good, if true.

He's at Nationals a lot, Mel. And Duran Caferro told me he was at PAL too. How he gets around to all these, I don't know, but if you've ever seen a female boxer backed against a wall, looking like she was being shaken down-it's probably this guy. :D

Unfortunately, I usually see some guy boxer with a girl backed up against the wall - or a guy boxer with a girl who is hanging out against a wall. Maybe I just haven't been around the right walls????

It looks and sounds very true from my sources and also what I have found on the net.

and it's completely obvious..... here are some facts...
This is her gym's page listing Joanna as an active fighter.
http://www.caninoskarateandboxingstudio ... airall.htm

1. how can you not know your own figher has competed pro? Then register her for the GG?
2. the only reason the bout didn't take place is because Joanna's opponent found the pro results online the night before the fight! Then confronted the officials. Other than that she would have been allowed to compete.

Very very shady... if indeed Bonnie knew she should be removed from organizing any future amature events. This is not cool at all. If Joanna was not from her gym I would have more sympathy.

It is imperative that any coach, or administrator, putting on any tournament, let alone a national, know the rules. I'm really disappointed in Bonnie - she has been a real force for women's boxing.
