Matthew Hatton has confirmed that he will now be training at Bobby Rimmers gym in Stalybridge from now on. Matthew will be trained by primarily by Lee Beard and Bobby will oversee the younger Hatton's progress.

Matthew wanted to stress that in no way does this effect his working relationship with Kerry Kayes, Matthew is grateful for all the advice and help that Kerry has given him over the years and will continue to work with Kerry and use CNP products for the forseeable future to assist his conditioning and physical preparation.

After his defeat to Craig Watson on his older sibling's 'Homecoming' event earlier in May, Matthew felt that it was time for a change thus why the decision has been made.

He advised his fans that he is really excited about going to a new gym which has a lot of active fighters.Mathew Hatton has worked with Bobby at the Phoenix gym on previous occasions and is looking forward to training under Bobby again.

I think that these things are not neccesarily seen as a slight on the trainer.
Sometimes things just need to change to go forward. However in Matthews case I just don't think he is good enough and no trainer can work miracles, if anything he has overachieved already

I still think Matthew can be competitive on the domestic scene, he's not as good as his record would indicate, but he's not a bad boxer.
Couple of wins and a shot at the British title isn't out of his grasp.

Whilst Watson pleasantly surprised me in their fight, I think Watson could a canditate for most improved fighter of the year - and I think might even go beyond Commonwealth level. However, I dissapointed with Matthew's effort... and have to say I thought from the first round that the whole team knew he was going to lose.

There was no sense of urgency, no bollocking. Lets not forget Hatton has beaten Francis Jones who did okay in a British title challenge.

I do wonder if Ricky will follow suit.... it seems odd that Matthew has lost faith when all he needs to do is look at how his brother has done under Billy.
