Enzo said Haye was the better man on the night. I think rather than it meaning Enzo has no class, it's the fact that he's an active fighter and might have a fight with Haye in the future. He's confident.

If he said that then I lose a lot of respect for Enzo "WBO vacant champ" Maccarinelli.

Well if he fights Alexeev for the vacant title he could find himself "making mistakes and not following instructions" again, if you get me drift?......

No, sorry, boyo, but you were exposed like a pervert in a raincoat by Haye and I guess reality bites, don't it? You aren't even half the fighter Haye is and, as a "man", Haye gave Thompson full praise for kicking his arse while you - and your know-nothing trainer - aren't "man" enough to say you were beaten by the better fighter.

Prediction: Enzo will pick up the WBOgus belt again and never, ever, venture into world class again.
Have you got a personal axe to grind? Did Enzo 'rape' your girlfriend? Why are you so bitter....

Still can't believe your a fight writer for decent mags like Boxing Monthly, you called the other champs frauds just because they never held all 3 belts to be undisputed.

He did give Haye credit already, doesn't mean he has to constantly say It and kiss up.

Nothing wrong with Enzo saying he made a mistake, he still gave credit.

Enzo was caught and Haye did the business on him, thats a fact. Once Haye knew he had him he went for the kill and finished him off. Thing is Enzo fought the wrong fight and needed to keep out of Hayes way for a few rounds. I think Enzo was wrong to say he is the better man but Haye was the better fighter on the night, pure bollox. Haye is definately the better fighter and proved it. Without a doubt Enzo would rip the title from the Detroit fighter in a couple of rounds and now Haye has moved up he has a brilliant chance of dominating the CW division. Without Haye around Enzo can be the top man. As for moving up to HW, I dont think that will happen.

When one gets their arse handed to them, they shouldn't still be saying that they are the better man. Enzo should behave himself and stop talking nonsense.

I think Big Mac is a poster boy for everything wrong with British boxing, to be honest. He's an average fighter who is pushed as something special, he fights the type of guys Glyn Leach knocks out outside London kebab shops late of a Friday night, he calls himself "best in the world" all the while knocking over the likes of Bobby Gunn, he is a phoney, and even when he gets spanked he and Warren have the bold-faced cheek to expect/demand a direct WBO title chance and continue to bad mouth Haye like the brutal arse-kicking at the o2 never happened!

Yeah, I think Enzo needs to man up, admit he lost to the better man (period!) and re-dedicate himself to learning his craft, work his way back into contention and EARN a title chance.
I used the 'rape' word because you used it in your eloquent post....perhaps you should get a job at Scatological Monthly.....

Enzo is a fighter and some fighters need to have self-belief and are to some extent self-deluded. I mean - if they think they are not that good they should just join Nobby Nobbs' gym and be done with it.

Enzo is a decent guy, and a fair fighter - yes he got ironed out by Haye, and actually I did think he thought a bad fight - even if the same thing waould've happened. Your bile however is just over-the-top and smells of unprofessional spitefulness.

Enzo could fight Haye ten times and he would get knocked out every single time.

He is a decent fighter, and I don't expect him to say anything different(then he made mistakes etc whilst he is stil active)

BUT, Haye is clearly a level above him and always has been.

The proof is in the pudding.

Enzo never said he was the better man, he said Haye was.

Nothing wrong with saying he still made a few mistakes though still.

You give a fighter credit for beating you, you don't over do It and keep kissing up to them though.

A pretty insulting assessment of Enzo as far as I am concerned. I agree he lost to the better man, David Haye, and I also think he should give far more credit to Haye than he has, but he isnt the "average fighter" you suggest he is. I am pretty sure he will prove to be the best CW in the division given the fullness of time.

To be fair and realistic Enzo has fought one real world class fighter in his prime - David Haye and got blasted in 2 rounds. Enzo didn't make a mistake - the two right hands that landed beforehand were a mistake also? He has yet to prove himself one of the top crusierweights. But when Enzo says he lost because he made a mistake I think he's trying to convince himself more than anything. Fighters do this all the time - if you campaign at the highest level you have to believe you are the best - call it delusional but if Enzo was to come out and say "Oh yeah Haye is miles better than me and would have wasted me no matter what" you'd worry about his mental state. By convincing himself he made a mistake and thats all his confidence will still be there which is essential as a fighter. But I get where Ant is coming from and I can't say I'm a big fan of Enzo Calzaghe either - terrible sportmanship( "Enzo would have still destroyed Haye if it went 12rnds, I tell ya'!!" ).

I do not see why Enzo could not be humble by saying an unequivocal "Haye is the better boxer". I have to agree with Ant Evans, as Enzo has showed no class whatsoever. Maccarinelli is either playing the promotional game because of the emergence of Haymaker promotions and Maccarinelli wishes to show his loyalty to Warren or Maccarinelli maybe a little bit thick in that he sees the one sided destruction Haye handed out as harmless.

Haye would beat Maccarinelli 10 times out of ten, there is no need for Maccarinnelli to go into some sort of denial about either.

Haye and Enzo are as classless as each other. Haye has shown similar respect for Klitschko

I liked it when Dempsey said, ok Enzo, but we have to remind the fans that you got knocked out. Then Mac says, "I'm sorry, I can't hear you."

Alexeev will beat the living shit out of Enzo.

Jon Banks - who looked dreadful last night - is probably going to do Contender 4 instead of taking the WBO title shot.

So it will probably be Alexander Alexeev v Enzo Mac for the vacant WBO title. Alexeev's a former world amateur champion with power, accuracy and southpaw skills. Enzo will be massacred.

Exactly.

I expect to see Enzo outclassed in this one. Alexeev is something special.

Enzo must be kicking himself that Alexeev is above him in the rankings. Mac could easily beat Jon Banks (IMO) which would allow him and the WBO to resume their beautiful friendship.

Looking at the rankings - is it possible to have Herbie vs Enzo Mac for the WBO title?

Ranked #4 and #3 at the moment.

Sounds like #1 (Banks) might be going a different route (e.g. The Contender) so all they need to do is find a way of getting rid of Alekseev.

Herbie of course could go the WBC route also... He's ranked #4 in there also.

Well, Herbie has promised to KO Enzo Mac and allegedly both.

But there's a small matter of the brilliant Alexander Alexeev, and his massive promoters Universum. Alexeev is above Mac, and Herbie with the WBO.

I don't see much wrong in Enzo saying Haye was the better man on the night but he feels he is the better man. We all know (apart from maybe Max) that Haye is in a different league to Enzo but why shouldn't Maccarinelli keep the belief that he is the best in the world. Ok he is probably never going to go near Haye again but I don't see why a fighter coming back from a 2 round demolition shouldn't try and regain all the confidence he has. If he is going to step back into world class again he is gonna need it.

Also as far as Haye not showing Wlad any class, he is playing a role to hype the fight. In doing so has got the press talking about it and has put himself forward as a contender. After they fight (if they fight) you know Haye is going to show him all the respect in the world like he has all of his opponents so far. I also see where Haye is coming from with his Gurov comment, using his superior speed to land on a taller opponent the same way he would have to against Klitschko.
