Kevin McIntyre and other news

Post by Old bones Ian »

Good news for former British title holder Kevin McIntyre, he has been made mandatory challenger to champion Kell Brook for the Welter title.
Should be a good fight when its made, the board have said its got to happen before the end of November.

Barnes v Lynes has been mandated by the board as well , again to take place by the end ov November.

Andy Bell v Lee Haskins for the super fly title.

and eliminators Mark Thompson v Tony Doherty in a cracker
Young Mutley v John O'Donnell in an open one.

Question is - and I hope it doesn't happen, if Brook gets injured - will he get stripped.

mmmmmm yes, hope we don't find out the answer.
I do feel that Kevin was hard done by, would it of happened to a bigger name if they had the same injury problem?

Although I could see why Team Brook would be annoyed, but really I think the ideal scenerio would be if they didn't force a date for these two to fight - give McIntyre a chance for a warm up.

Hang on a minute, Stu, Kevin has got what he wants so he's better step up to the plate.
On his own admission he was 7 days from being ready for Brook.
He has since stayed in his training camp.
Why grant him a warm up ?
The fight has until November to happen subject to purse bids by 13/08/08.

I personally think McIntyre deserve a shot on his terms - if this is fine by McIntyre then fine.

Not saying Brook shouldn't be allowed to make some cash with Voluntaries... but I think instead of a fight him now or never deal - maybe they should make him a year long mandatory.

Although I am bias, I think McIntyre was shafted good a proper and I want him to have the best possible chance at regaining something he never should have lost.

Do I detect some doubts entering your mind about Kevin's chances, Stu ?
If Brook is a fraud champ and a pushover, why do you want your boy to have a year to get ready

Doubts? My boy?

I ALWAYS tipped Brook - I aint convinved by McIntyre at all. I just think he (McIntyre) should be given the best treatment possible by the BBBoC after they wrongly IMO stripped him of the belt.

Does anyone actually know what was wrong with his back? also it states in the BBN article 'However, the purse bids are strictly subject to McIntyre confirming his fitness within the next six days' so what would happen if he was to get injured after the 6 days???

Sorry - I didn't mean to say "my boy" like I was talking down to you or anything.... just cause you called Kevin "your boy" - which he is far from that. So Kevin is not "my boy", my boy
