When Is Boxing Season?

SKY mentioned on Friday that Williams v McDermott was the end of the season and the VIP thread below mentions this so when is the Boxing season from and 'til? Or it is just the discretion of the Promotional Company?

This is probably trivial to most, but little crap things like this keep me interested in life.

Usually precious little happens through the school holidays if you follow.

Normally starts in September, has a break for 2 weeks or so for Xmas and New Year and then runs through until July.

I always saw it that they had August off although small shows, off TV stuff, still happens.

The pro boxing season always pretty much the same as the amaeur one, essentially a winter sport, still today all the dinner shows tend to be in that period.
In the last 15 years with the advent of sky etc they have put shows on all year round so it has developed into a yr round sport
