My thoughts about tonight's card (based on what I heard on the radio):

Well top to bottom the card was pretty bad, but I forgive Warren, as he has two good cards coming up next week.

Arthur fought a complete stiff in Kizza, and the win does little for him. I guess he gained some confidence, but he needed to get rounds tonight.

It sounded as if Gary Young had little trouble against Keith Jones, which was to be expected. Young sounds like an exciting fighter, and he has the crowd following as well.

I'd also like to see Jamie Arthur again, I liked what I heard from his fight against Karl Taylor. Martin Conception was knocked down in his fight, but recovered nicely to stop Ani. I'll forgive Martin a bit, because he took the fight on short notice.

Kizza was awful. Just there for the payday. Gary Young's a good kid, but to hear Ian Darke and Glenn McCrory referring to him as the best prospect in this country, was well over the top. I saw nothing from Young to make me think he is exceptional. Kevin Anderson and Barry Morrison are better Scottish prospects in my opinion.
Poor fare, this. I've been getting fed up with Sky-TV lately. It's just a succession of adverts. I might stick with the internet and knock Sky on the head.

Whoever brought that china chinned bantamweight over needs to have his head examined.
A decent crowd turned up for a joke fight, and some might think twice next time. Four weeks training in the U.S for that?!

By showing a bit of foresight I've saved nearly £200 by refusing to go to Harrison - Estrada and now Arthur - Kizza. Good stuff.

Gary Young best prospect? Someone able to negate his fire by out-boxing him, while slamming counter left hooks home, would give him fits.

Jamie Arthur's fight against Karl Taylor was a sleeper, but I agreed with McGuigan and Watt afterwards.

Overall a pretty crap card, but as GreyMinus says the coming weeks hold promise...

I missed the whole card and pretty glad of it by the sound...i only stick with Sky for there foreign fight coverage which is good and worth sticking through the endless crap to watch. We get a lot of stuff for free which costs a lot in America so i can't complain on that front. Bennie will you still be sticking with those pioneers of Boxing, the BBC?!

Agree with everything you say, i would say Anderson is the best of the 3 you mention, Young is just an ordinary up and comer, nothing special in my eyes.

I was at the card. The opponent was so bad he just crumpled under the weight of the first punch. The crowd was a good, knowledgable one and they knew they had seen sub-standard fare - the whole card was poor.

scottish prospects

Post by hammer10 »

I agree that most of the fights on the Arthurs undercard were poor. And for Ian Dark to call Gary Young the best prospect in Scotland is a total joke. Kevin Anderson would burst him like a baloon. Get some decent opposition for Young and let's see what he's got!
