Call me crazy but I've always liked Santos, ever since chinning Sinclair. I know, I know: he's a gangly weirdly fleshy southpaw spoiler, he keeps his head up too straight & I personally think he's a bit chinny; to top it all his only power shot of any note is the left-hand counter.
But he just put Joachim Alcine flat on his back.
That across-the-body left cross counter is startlingly reminiscent (though obviously a mirror image) of Sanchez's first knockdown of Wilfredo Gomez.

Any fighter that beats Margarito gets my respect. I always felt he underachieved though so good to see he's got a belt.
154 just gets weirder and weirder.

Great punch. I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens to the Light Middleweight division in the next few years (along with the Lightweight division).

Great knockout, met him once as well, seems a good bloke.
Has been around forever really and while always up there he has never really taken off, perhaps a bit who needs him
Doubt anyone will need him after seeing that!

I wouldn't mind seeing Santos vs Dzindiruk II - I thought it was a fight Santos would win if he wasn't so rusty.

That was a great win for Santos on enemy soil. Hope King keeps him busier now he has a title. Hopefully if we're really lucky he will fight again this year.
I guess Alcine's people were looking to match Alcine with Bunema if he'd won against Santos. Bunema is a King fighter so i wonder if this fight will now get made.

I think Sergei looked by far the better man.stujones wrote:I wouldn't mind seeing Santos vs Dzindiruk II - I thought it was a fight Santos would win if he wasn't so rusty.
I just think it's sad how SD can jab Santos' head off, and Santos goes on to have the better career.

Guy has only lost twice and was knocked down during his welter days. He was more off balance against Tak than anything and pulled away in the second half of that fight and Sinclair could bang, but Santos showed his mettle to flatten him in the second round.
A very solid fighter and honorary member of the 'who needs him' club. Also an Olympic bronze medallist so has good pedigree. Just wasn't at his sharpest in lost to Sergei but he's hardly been the most active fighter.
In second fight against Margarito I felt he was starting to come on strong and was beginning to outland the teak-tough Mexican mauler.
Very good fighter and hard match for anyone on his day.
