Friday's ABA finals

Hi,

Is anyone going to the ABA's at Wembley conference centre on Friday? Who do you think the fighters to look out for are?

Also, do any of you lot know how much it will likely cost to get in?

I'll be there Henry, should be a good show, the Conference center is a top venue with good views from almost everywhere!
The light-fly final should be a decent fight with Scott McDonald squaring off against James Fowl. These two have been threatening to box each other all season, now they get their chance.
Bantamweight Matthew Marsh (West Ham) is a real good fighter, keep an eye on him.
Another good bout should be a lightweight between southpaw Chris Pacey (Army) and Haringey's classy Michael Grant, a match where skill will feature highly.
Welter Martin Murray (St Helens) has collected some prized scalps in his ABA campaign this season and he faces experinced Army boxer Steve Briggs in an intriguing battle.
St Pancras light-heavy, Murtala Abdusalem, has looked a class above most that he's boxed so far. A southpaw Nigerian who boxed at the Commonwealth games as an 18-year-old, he's definitely one to look out for.

I think Young, as part of Harrison's securitry team, was responsible for winding up Hide at the infamous Harrison v Ellis bill. He was one of the main protagonists in that shameful night for British boxing.

Good idea to give the boxers a bit of build-up in the Beeb show last night - Bunce's idea I'd guess. But why give it so little time at such an unholy hour as midnight? Don't they realise most of the UK own video recorders?

Like I say, the build-up was good, but as a result we only saw around 5 fights. Some of the guys they previewed didn't even have their fights shown!!

Abdusalem looked an excellent prospect. Shame the Olympics sound such a nightmare to qualify for though - we could well end up with no boxers going from the UK at this rate.

Scott McDonald was excellent in stopping James Fowl.
Chris Pacy, likewise, beating the talented Michael Grant.
Tony Bellew is a good prospect, very tough, very game.
However, John Watson was outstanding beating a very good Nigerian in Fred A Madoti.
Good night of boxing, perhpas not as good as 2003 though.
