I been reading quite a few articles on some of my favorite tough guys in ring history, and came across an article done in 2005 about Wepner and that upon the completion of a documentary [Jeff Feuerzeig is making the film] of Wepner's life, there was talk of an actual big screen movie to be produced by MGM that was to be entitled "Redemption" and would be the about the life of Chuck Wepner.
Supposedly John C. Reiley was to play Wepner, and looking at their pictures, Reiley does have alot of Chuck's features.
I guess my question is, was the documentary ever made? If so, is there any talk around that the big screen film is being made or what?
Chuck Wepner, His Life Story?
Wepner was a part of the New Jersey mob.
That why he lasted 15 rounds with Ali, rather than getting "knocked out" in the first round by a single "punch."
The muslims connected with Ali could not visit a fighter with Wepner's management before the fight.
So the Wepner-Ali fight was legitimate--and a true picture of Ali's level as a fighter.
As was the Ali-Young fight.
In that case, the muslims with Ali underestimated Young so badly they didn't try to intimidate him before the fight.

Reiley looks more like Tex Cobb. But I guess Tex could play himself in the movie.HomicideHenry wrote:I been reading quite a few articles on some of my favorite tough guys in ring history, and came across an article done in 2005 about Wepner and that upon the completion of a documentary [Jeff Feuerzeig is making the film] of Wepner's life, there was talk of an actual big screen movie to be produced by MGM that was to be entitled "Redemption" and would be the about the life of Chuck Wepner.

You're a clown....
Wepner was a fighter; not Tony Soprano's nephew.... And here's the video:

Wepner won four rounds before being TKOed in the fifteenth...
And Ali was a ridiculously fat and out of shape 230 pound fighter when he chased Jimmy Young out of the ring twice on his way to a unanimous decision...

I'm not a big Laurence Olivier fan but I wouldn't judge him by his work in The Betsy...

The truth and granberry rarely meet. Same with reality.
No one takes him seriously.
He's just the resident clown.

One can have so much fun with granberry's logic...His rants are what inspired to be join boxrec....Ali had twenty three fights that went to a decision* ...Does that mean all twenty three gentlemen were" a part of of the New Jersey mob." ?Wepner was a part of the New Jersey mob. That why he lasted 15 rounds with Ali, rather than getting "knocked out" in the first round by a single "punch."

Actually, Wepner was TKOed...
