What is Slap-zaghe doing with the WBO title?

Post by johnftiz »

Slap-zaghe sent a grovelling letter to paco Valcarcel at the WBO the other day asking to let him keep his title as he will defend it again after he has fought Roy Jones.

In Joes argus column today he says that he might not fight at super middle or any weight after Jones as it is difficult for him to decide a this stage.

I'm sure Hopkins caused some cerebral damage to Calzahge after that first round knockdown!

JC is just keeping all his options open, which will leave him in a much better position to maximise his earning potential in the twilight of his career

Just when I thought the WBO could'nt get any trashier, they are well and truely exceeding my expectations. Congrats to the WBO if they accept it, and well done to the IBO for joining the top 4.

I like the way Calzaghe says "I do not have a mandatory at the moment"

since when has that ever bothered him or the WBO in the last 11 years?

:D Good point. Freeman Barr was his mandatory for about half of his reign and he still never got a shot

That is something Froch should be aware of, playing the ranking game doesn't play dividends, having a promoter with muscle does

I'm hoping its going to be easier for Froch to get good fights when he gets a title and hopefully some backing from ITV and USTV, it's abit of a nightmare for him at the moment though :x

He needs to get a title shot first. these next 6 months are going to be crucial for Hennessy's credibility

I think maybe Hennessy sports should call Dibella's bluff.

Instead of waiting for the outcome of Lacy's fight, they should turn the tables and simply tell Dibella that they are looking at Pascal v Froch now and balls to waiting for Lacy.

That way Dibella wont have the luxury of Froch in the wings should Lacy get bummed good and proper by the Mendoza man.

Froch + WBC title is a definite, wheras Lacy is only a maybe.

He then might not take the risk of letting Lacy pick up an injury and takes the WBC / Froch fight.
