Kali Meehan/ Shane Cameron

Post by funso banjo baby »

kali meehan

finding it tricky getting fights it seems ..hes on the frindges of contention and dsnt want to blow it.

but lets look at the facts

blown away by Danny Williams (who would have done the same to brewster)

gave brewster a tough fight but brewster was so open most boxers would have given him trouble

had a good make or break fight with davarryl

but his loss to Rahman echoes the main problem with meehan ..hes just a bit hollow boned and wont be able to dent any of the top fighters.

Shane cameron.

hes a true slugger

looks to be the dominant one down under and the surrounding islands

all he can do is come forward with his face..he gets cut up bad...and perhaps his lack of general ring knowledge and experience led him to chase ahunanya when he had the points all sawn up...and got ko'd nastily

so

who wins out of kali and shane

its a tough call.... kali needs to plant his feet more and work inside..try not to let cameron rough him up

cameron needs to work his feet more...duck and dive more...but he can potentially work through meehan with his superior strength

meehan can plod to a points but if he sluggs it out he can be stopped

Is this a matchup that is on the cards, or just a fantasy?

you obviously don't like meehan by the looks of it.
danny williams would have done the same to brewster. u r obviously bias being from uk. that's fine.
brewster ko'd klitschko.

rahman ko'd lewis.

doesn't seem that bad when u look at it for meehan.

why don't u read the open letter posted on here from meehan. you may change your opinion of him.

i think Kali is still a step ahead of Shane. Against anyone as hard hitting meehan, i think Shane will cut up bad. Kali has a height and reach advantage as well, they would help keep the fight on his terms. would be a good one, you just never know.

Shane Cameron has a height and reach problem and was KOed recently by Ahunanya. Kali Meehan has won all of his fights since the loss to Rahman by KO. He has taken a lot of fights at short notice. His loss to Williams was seven years ago, before Williams wrote an end to Mike Tyson as a contender. Many American commentators thought Brewster lucky to get the win against Meehan and he took a neck injury into the Rahman fight. 34(28KOs)-3 is a pretty good record, considering two losses were against a World Champion, a former and future World Champion and a legend killer. Overall he has fought better fighters than Cameron has.

im not biased...kali's ok

but uv answered most of the problems...theres too many moans and complaints.
rahman would always KO meehan early whether hes fit or not

meehan has had about 4 significant fights

williams

brewster

rahman

davaryl

danny iced him

brewster won (but was ready to go in every WBO fight and eventually gave it to the inept liakovich)

Rahman walked through kali

so basically he has a Ko over a gatekeeper..nothing more

i just think if cameron dsnt cut up too much and if he uses his head..he could stop kali no probs

As topp said Meehan is a step ahead of Cameron. Kali has fought better opposition and with a height and reach advantage his power would cause big problems for Cameron. Cameron has potential but he hasn't done anything yet that shows he would beat Meehan at this point...

their records apart from the big step up losses for Kali are pretty much the same as ud expect for the region....aukland/machimana/izonrite/mirovtz,wilson,okhello

id put davarryll on a par with ahunanya

so its a 'pick em' fight ...but id still favour cameron on aggression....history proves that meehan dsnt like someone coming forward throwing bombs...seem to remember he was dropped early by the slow starting okhello? meehan excuse was that hed been drinking all night ? nice

dont get me wrong... i do like meehan...hes a Ko or be Ko'd fighter... always exciting isnt it

Bit hard to get well known heavies to come this far from Las Vegas and Munich and when Kali gets a fight overseas something usually happens where the other fighter drops out and he is given a lesser light to fight. He is always prepared to fight.

Williamson has wins over Oliver McCall and Corey Sanders. Tell me a World Heavyweight Champion that ever lost to Ahunanya.

Davaryll was sparked by Baby Joe in 1 !!!

and i think you'll find Corey Sanders is the 400 lb bruiser from america 8)

and if ur just going on stats you'll find cameron beat machimana...who iced the real corrie sanders from SA in 1

Corey Sanders KOed Oleg Maskaev in the fight before he lost to Williamson. Maskaev was on the way up, Machimana beat The Sniper when he was washed up and on a comeback.

Nobody beat Mesi. Most of his fights ended in early KOs.

u must be back tracking?

cant seriously be suggesting a win over 400 lb sanders is a good win ?

the fact is meehan hasnt registered a win over a genuine top 10 hw.....hes 38 and been fighting for 11 years

cameron is 30...with 6 years.

Sanders was 313 pounds when Williamson beat him, 1 pound heavier than when he beat Maskaev. At 6'6" tall that would give him a similar BMI to Danny Williams.

You talk like a 12 year old.

banjo u r right in some ways about meehan and he won't get many more chances so he will have to put on a good show.

most of us on here think he still has something to offer and hopefully we'll get to see that soon.

i still think cameron wouldn't last 6 rounds against meehan.

Might be too late for Meehan and Cameron, but if you boyos come up with another prospect, ship him up here to Canada and maybe he can get better fights with America just the other side of the border. We've got one or two dreadnoughts up here, but they don't seem too interested in the fight game or they get injured easily.

That reminded me of Walter Matthau's opening routine as an Academy Award presenter years ago:

"Canada?" he said "Only whores and hockey players come from Canada."
"My wife comes from Canada!"
"Oh really? Who does she play for?"

BOOM TISH!
