A CNA says his opponent Jan. 25, 1929 was Charley Belanger, not this fellow:

Can anyone clarify?

I don't know what a CNA is, but Gains' autobiog "The Impossible Dream" has Belanger as his opponent for the Canadian Heavyweight Title on that date.

"CNA" is an abbreviation for "contemporary newspaper account/article." I've been researching microfilm of old newspapers at a couple of local libraries. I type that phrase so often here in this Forum that I think I'm getting carpal tunnel syndrome (or however you spell that). It's like RRB (Ring Record Book) or EBR (Everlast Boxing Record). Who knows? It just might catch on.

P.S. Unless anyone disagrees, I'll make the change to Belanger. ric
