Someone mentioned on here what was happening to the belts held by Ottke, can't find it in any of the threads though, who is next in line to box for the IBf and WBA belts he held?

Well the people he has beaten controversially should fight it out for them but the queue would be that big the eliminators would take years

Robin Reid V Mads Larsen was mooted at one point for the right to fight Ottke in a rematch so now he has retired why not have them fight for the title? Neither is particuarly deserving of a world title, but in todays world of polluted titles not many are

I hope Reid gets a shot and didn't the IBF offer him an eliminator anyway? By that logic this means he should get a chance. Logic and alphabet boys make uneasy bedfellows though, as we all know to our dismay.

Yes, as Steve says, Mads Larsen is in the mix. Our European editors discussed who's next in line on the 'Sven Ottke on ARD TV tonight' thread on page 2 of the forum.

I don't think Reid was offered anything by the IBF, Jess Harding went to the WBA, and their response was pretty incredulous, they said something along the lines of 'well what can we do.' fornicating Incredible...you're a sanctioning body, remove your sanction for that title, and declare the belt vacant, that's what.

Poor old Reidy doesn't look like he's going to get a look in...

Leave poor Sven alone. He looked just as good against Reid as Joe Calzaghe did.

What worried me most about their statement was when they said 'after speaking with the IBF, we don't see what we can do about it, though we're glad that Harding came forward as from watching the tape there were some controversial aspects to the refereeing.

1 what the hell did they need to confer with the IBf for, they run their own ship, and it's their own belt which was also on the line, at the very least surely the WBA could have offered Reid an eliminator, or ordered a rematch.

2 Surely they should have had some of their officials at the bout, and surely they should have given a shit about the rep of their belt. They spoke as if they had no prior knowledge of what occured in the fight.

Yeah, but Reid was actually allowed to hit Calzaghe back...

If Tillerman had let Reid do his job, I think he would have stopped Ottke inside of 8 rounds.

James - couldn't remember which of the two Harding appealed to but I'm sure the sop they offered was some kind of eliminator, some time or other (probably as vague as this too). I think Harding told them to shove it though. I could, of course have invented this myself. :P

Yes, the fact that they have shown no spine at all is awful.

as it is i think he still won the fight, including the KD that didn't count and the crazy point deduction.

Maybe the WBA offered something.....

Even with the point deduction I still had Reid winning clearly. He took the first 5 rounds without doubt, and enough of the remaining rounds to win clearly for me.

BRIAN Magee is on course for a WBA World title final eliminator with Robin Reid.

The big summer showdown at the King's Hall will happen as long as Magee retains his IBO super-middleweight title on April 17 when he defends against Nigerian Jerry Elliott.

According to manager Pat Magee negotiations are at an advanced stage and could even be concluded before Magee steps into the ring next month at the King's Hall.

The reigning WBA champion is Australian Anthony Mundine and manager Magee is confident that the 28-year-old Belfast man can step up and wrench his title away.

"A fight with Robin Reid would be ideal for us," said Magee.

"Reid is looking for a way back to a world title shot and Brian is ready for the big fights now.

Good fight for Reid (if it happens). He likes fighting southpaws. Incidentally, the same newspaper stated Magee has been sparring for the Elliott fight at both Freddie Roach's gym in Hollywood and the Top Rank gym in Vegas.

IBF: Häussler vs Kessler or Larsen (I think the IBF will rank Häussler after his win on #1; Ottke then wouldn´t have retired)

WBA: Mundine/Siaca vs Kessler or Larsen

I don´t give Reid a chance for a title fight.

Some people are throwing Calzaghe's name into the mix. He can still make super-middle.

I think it's scandalous if Calzaghe stays at SM and fights for these titles, he has been saying he is too good for the division and that no one will fight him and then as soon as Ottke disappears he decides to stay at the weight, nah i doubt that will happen. I don't see what Haussler has done to deserve a world title challenge, Mads Larsen beat him up already so why should they have to fight again for the title?

I think people are getting this confused - Ottke was promoted to WBA Super championship status, that belt should now be declared vacant. Mundine is WBA normal champion.

So I think only the IBF belt will be contest between the #1 and #2 contendors, there will be no other championship fight.

Yes i think your right Stu, Mundine won the WBA normal belt (which Ottke had won off Mitchell) against Antwun Echols after Sven Ottke was elevated to super numero uno champione or whatever the hell that stupidity is all about. Mundine was annoyed when Ottke retired because he was hoping for a rematch to become "The undisputed WBA World Champion" so i reckon it is just the IBF up for grabs.
