didn't Max Baer's son box as a professional?

I thought I read somewhere that Max Baer Jr (Jethro on the Beverly Hillbillies) has a brief pro career as a boxer. Of couse he was not successful like his father but I thought I read that he had about a half dozen pro fights. The story I read said he got his nose broke in his first pro fight. Is there any truth to that story or was his career limited to an amateur one? Did Max Jr fight as a pro? Does anyone know?
