Sorry for deleting the thread.
Sorry for deleting the thread.
Sorry guys, I just thought it had to be done.
I deleted the Pinto is DEFINATELY out thread started by Ian.
The reason is because there are so many stories concerning what is happen, there were rumours spread on other forums at 8.00 pm on Wednesday that Pinto was still coming. I didn't want to take the chance incase it was a slanderous rumour.
Unlike other threads on todays "developments", the tone was more direct and less opinionated and offering personal suggestions, and while I don't doubt Ian's source and credibility as a boxing journalist I just think it would be better to wait untill an official statement is heard tomorrow.
Again sorry for doing it, it wasn't an easy decision and I hope its the only time I would do it. I think the other mods were in bed so it was my decision alone.
Sorry if any offense was caused.

No, there was one post there that I believe certain people might not have appreciated - but it wasn't yours KO. I was also not that happy with the title of the thread as for me, the fight could still be happening. There has been so much false rumours on Hatton in the past and there is still some good posters saying they been tipped off that its still going ahead.knockout artist wrote:Surely it wasnt down to my post.
I made sure there was nothing libelous.
Obviously, Britishboxing.net have more contacts than me and they are rightfully upset that I deleted the link to their exclusive. However, I hope Kevin has read my PM on how he can word his intro to his link and post it back on the site - then you can start debating on it again.
Again, sorry I feel like a c#nt for doing that - just felt it had to be done.

I love your optimism..at the end of the day I wouldnt be totally shocked if they are totally backed into a corner that Sharmba does take it. Think bout it politics aside, this is being screened in the uK and states so big tv money involved here on top of that 15 thousand people have got tivckets and are expecting a show, would suggest that Mr Warren HAS to pay whatever it takes to get ricky an opponent.
I find this one a bit difficult. Maybe I should have called the thread something else.
Go and read the story. Nothing wrong with it. By saying this I'm not saying the observations in it are correct but they were certainly made. Nothing in there for which BBN could be taken to task. Stu had a tough call to make and fair play to him. He made the wrong one as a matter of fact but if you are ever in doubt, as he was, he did the right thing.
'Waiting for official statements'? So what happened to the old fashioned 'scoop' or 'exclusive'? If the world waited on official statements all the time, you would rarely find out anything.

Ian I think you are both right and wrong.
BBN has every right to get a scoop, and you did well to actually get a first hand account which is more than most, including myself I hasten to add, did. That is definetly what reporters should wherever possible be doing. As we know in the world of boxing journalism, the second hand report is very much de rigeur.
However, I think Stu had a point in making that judgement call, as this forum could be held accountable technically speaking for disseminating the information, apparently that is how the law works in that regard.

So on which point am I wrong? I said fair play to him for making that call and that if he is ever in doubt, as he obviously was, that's what he should do. You are correct in your interpretation of defamation laws. To repeat a libel is as bad as originating it. But there was nothing libellous in the story (that's why he was wrong 'as a matter of fact') so Stu didn't need to worry. But he didn't know that so the deletion was understandable. As Southpaw would say - end of.jamesmcdonnell wrote: However, I think Stu had a point in making that judgement call, as this forum could be held accountable technically speaking for disseminating the information, apparently that is how the law works in that regard.
Although we all should be very careful of what we say and write, I don't like the sticky started over on ESB. 'Be careful...people are out there watching.' I know what they are getting at, to be honest, as daft people will say ridiculous things (that is their point after all!) but when will it get to the stage where we daren't write anything even potentially contentious for fear of reprisals?

I wasn't whining... I was laughing. It was purely rhetorical.Loftgroov wrote:Matchfixer - that is an idiotic statement. Stu just did what he felt was right, and in my opinion was perfectly justified. It's no "big deal" is it. Quit whining.Matchfixer wrote:The power's gone to his head.
Why not just delete all threads until fightnight?
Perhaps emoticons will help
I know a moderator of a forum who was contacted and threatened with legal action if he did not remove something from the site. So there are people watching. I don't think it is as bad as some think though and I'm buggered if I'm going to keep my opinions to myself due to fear of the unknown...defamation laws permitting, naturally. 8)Matchfixer wrote:Do people really take what is written in a boxing forum/message board that seriously then?
I pretty much equate everything talked about in here to pub talk.

Yes I saw that. Pretty funny as it's written by ESB moderator TEN COUNT (who is obviously Spud) then Spud replies, saying he's in complete agreement with TEN COUNT!Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote: I don't like the sticky started over on ESB. Everyone is a little paranoid these days it seems, probably because SN allegedly had the message board at secondsout closed down a few years back.
Too many libelous comments about Frank. A similar threat was allegedly made to ESB recently.
Anyway, you were obviously correct with your story. Just hope they salvage something out of this mess before Sat night.
blimey didnt really know that. I might reign in some of the more light hearted comments though as you may think they are jest but someone else might not with no intonation. cheers for the advice fellas.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:I know a moderator of a forum who was contacted and threatened with legal action if he did not remove something from the site. I obviously don't know the incident but I would never have expected something on a forum to reach that extreme.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:I know a moderator of a forum who was contacted and threatened with legal action if he did not remove something from the site. Perhaps I should impersonate $eif and use 100 emoticons just so people understand my meaning.
Again, I don't want to start any tensions between this forum it just seemed like I was the only moderator on board last night and I ideally I would have liked to have discussed it with more experienced moderators but that couldn't be the case.
Like I said, I wasn't entirely happy the thread title - the link is fine and as I hope Ian has read a modified thread that Kevin has put up. Its different from the other thread entitled Pinto has pulled out, because its sounds likely that yesterday he did pull out - but so did Tyson (on a few occasions) against Etteine. Tyson got persuaded back to fight, and for all I know Pinto might have got persuaded to do the same thing aswell, financial issues are often solved.
As I said there was also post that had alot of acqusations (they might be true, but at the moment they are unfounded) which I am sure certain people might not have liked. This was another (and probably the main) reason for my decision. Now, I believe (and please bear with me I am new to this gig) that deleting a signle post could have caused more agro and people might have accused me of "personal vandettas" - which is not the case. So I thought the way myself and Kevin at BB.net went about it was the best way forward to include to link without any of the other potentially slanderous comments included in the thread (not in Ian's report).
Again, I felt bad and I don't think that has ever been done on this forum before, but I was on my own and thought I had to make a quick decision.
Sorry for any offense cause, hope that situation doesn't happen again. I thought it would be best to hold my hands up and say it was me and the reasoning before people go ballistic, I thought I was doing the right thing.

Scratch that - TEN COUNT is not Spud I just found out. Apologies to the Potato Headed OneMightyWarrior wrote:Yes I saw that. If any thread should be deleted it's this one.
I'm frankly shocked at how many viewings and replies this particular thread has got. There are one or two people here acting in a very pompous manner.
A thread got deleted on the British Boxrec forum!! Quick ... get on the phone to Kofi Annan and lets get the F117s fueled and ready to go!
Lighten up chaps... who really gives a f*ck?
