Brit Fighters who WILL win a World Title....
What fighters do we have that you think will win a genuine (big 4) world title? Not people who you think might or could, but fighters you actually think will win a title.
For me;
Amir Khan - Not because of his talent, as I think he'll get banged out at the highest level, but because he'll be guided very carefully.
Jamie Moore - I think he'll get his shot, and one of the champs @ LM will underestimate him.
David Haye - I think he'll grab a version of the Heavyweight title. I'd love to see him grab the undisputed title, but we'll see on that one. (Obviously he's already a champ, but seeings as he's moved up i thought i'd include him)
Exceptions;
Carl Froch - Despite his ranking, I'm not convinced meaty Mick will ever get him his shot, and if it is against Taylor I don't fancy his chances.
Enzo Mac - The WBO would be an obvious choice, but I've got a feeling the battering from Haye may have knocked his confidence too much. There's some good fighters at CW who are well capable of beating Enzo.

They will all win world titles.
Apart from Moore,
He has the ability - just wonder if he has the connections to get him the shot? If they do then he can/will win it but NOT against Sergio Martinez if Martinez is what he was. I would pick him against Sergio 'the Latin fake' Mora and this version of Vernon Forrest.
Enzo and Khan will won titles based on Fwanky and the fact they will face crap opposition for the belt and defend agaisnt crap.
Froch - yes!
Haye - yes!
DG bring the news!

Frankie Gavin....?
....definitely Khan at LW and Haye at HW.
would love to see Mooresy get a crack at a title. I think Froch will pick some form of world title up, though Taylor is no easy route.

Re: Brit Fighters who WILL win a World Title....
I see Haye as already being a world champ given what he did at cruiser.
Methinks Mac loses to Alexeev. Sorry, no more world titles. Ditto with Gavin Rees - he won't surprise anyone else, now - and Junior Witter - who no one really is interested in much. Clinton Woods' promoter can get him IBF title shots, but this title is being settled by 2 southpaws, Tarver & Dawson. Sorry Clinton, it was good while it lasted though.
Kevin Mitchell maybe being lined up for the WBO title at 130 in the big British rush for belts now that 130 isn't a division filled with elite names.
Froch is the WBC #1 contender at super middle. I think he can do it. Hopefully the fight with Taylor, or someone else, happens.
In the future, Khan and Murray at lightweight (both are in early 20s, plenty of time). Fighters like Thaxton, Fewkes, Romanov would be good progressive tests to get them there, in a VERY tough division.
Moore is getting there at light middle. A win over K2 prospect Zaurbek Baysangurov - which will be tough - could get him a rendesvous with John Duddy, should Duddy win the IBF title from Verno Philips. Will get him close to the WBC crown as well - Martinez will fight someone for the vacant belt later this year.
Barker at middle? Pavlik, Abraham, outgrowing the weight. Whether Barker will be ready depends on the fighters he defends that Commonwealth title against. LOT of learning fights on the Oz, Canadian & British scenes. If he gets that learnign curve, he can get there.

I think Witter and Mac will win world titles again,I think Moore would struggle to beat a rejuvinated Ryan Rhodes.

Re: Brit Fighters who WILL win a World Title....
Okay, here's my take on British fighters who will win a world title within the next 5 years:
JOE CALZAGHE:
No doubt when "The Welsh Dragon" takes on Jones JR. in September, a boxing organisation will maneuvre to make the victor its "world Light Heavyweight champion" (something small like the IBO or the WBF)... At least, the Ring Magazine will recognise the fight for it's linear heritage (probably)... So I guess this is considered a "world title"
RICKY HATTON:
Ricky will ALWAYS be chasing the rematch against Mayweather forevermore (though, personally I'm convinced that he WONT get it). But following Hattons successful return against Lazcano (in which the IBO slipped in to make him their champion), they will more than likely allow his fight with Malignaggi to be his 1st title defence..... I think Ricky will win, and regain his beloved IBF title. Following that, who knows what Ricky will do? Everyone seems to want to fight him... De La Hoya, Pacquaio, Kahn are just some of the names mentioned... But I fancy to win his IBF title back, thus winning the required "world title"
AMIR KAHN:
I think that allegedly (or whoever is promoting him nowadays) will handle the fighter... Carefully choosing the right fights for Kahn (though the boy is undoubtedly talented) and I think that he will certainly fight for one of the big 4 lightweight titles... Though I would avoid Manny Pacquaio, I think that would be a bit of a suicide run for Amir... If the likes of Willy Limond can knock him down, what would a destroyer like Manny do? I shudder to think... I also think that Amir will avoid fights against Diaz or Nate Campbell, but with 4 world titles around, I suppose that he deosn't have to fight them to become a world champion.
DAVID HAYE:
Haye is undisputedly our best hope for heavyweight glory since Lennox Lewis, and I believe that he could do very well at Heavyweight level... But he's choosing the "hard route" for himself, upon calling out Wladimir Klitchsko (the no 1 heavyweight today).... Easier routes for heavyweight glory would include Ruslan Chgaev or Samuel Peter.... Personally, I think he should aim for either of these boxers, (I believe he could KO them both) and upon becoming a heavyweight champion, Kilitchsko's mouth would be watering for a 3rd title and the opportunity to shut Haye up forever.... Yes, beating Chagaev or Peter is the way to gain Klitchsko's attention and make himself a more attrative bout against the massive Ukranian.
ENZO MACCARINELLI:
If (or when) Haye moves up to the Heavyweight division, I can forsee Macarenelli comfortably seizing his WBO title again... In my opionion the Cruiserweight division is a little shallow at the moment, and I can only see Adamek or Mermeck giving Enzo sufficient problems... But yes, I do believe he will win a "world title".
CARL FROCH:
Froch is my favourite British fighter at the moment, and as such, I am going to be a little biased in my opinion here... I think that the Super-Middleweight division is the most comeptitive at the moment, but there are four world titles out there up for grabs. Well, Kessler has regained his WBA (and rightfully so) following Calzaghe's move up in weight... (But I think that the WBA will have to give Anthony Mundine a shot at Kessler)... Then we have, Lucian Bute still continuing his reign as IBF champion. Denis Inkin (who I think will probably win the WBC title) and Sakio Bika (upon winning the recent series of The Contender) that will make him an attractive fight... Then we have Jeff Lacy who's on the comeback trail follwoing his devasating loss to Calzaghe, and Jermain Taylor will be up there as well pushing for a title shot... But yeah, I think that Froch will win a "title fight". And I have a sneaking suspicion that it might just be the WBO title, the title he's been aiming for all along (remember he was calling Calzaghe out every other week for a shot at this title).

Re: Brit Fighters who WILL win a World Title....
I've thought about this, and here are a few more Brits/Irish fighters who I think might win a world title.
JOHN DUDDY:
Duddy has been calling for a title shot for the best part of half a year now... I was initally hesitant to put him in my list because of his sketchy performance against Smichet... But, looking at the roll-call of World Champions at Middleweight... Kelly Pavlik, Arthur Abraham and Felix Sturm... I wouldn't fancy John's chances against a heavy-hitter like Pavlik, but I think if he was cautious and didn't go too gung-ho, he could get the better of Abraham... And I do think he has what it takes to beat Sturm... But perhaps he should just aim for the European title first, give himself a solid ground form which to work from, because I think he could beat Sebastion Sylvester.... Or he could do a "Gary Lockett route" to a world title shot, by winning one of the smaller world titles (IBO or WBF), I mean the current WBF champion, Kreshnik Qato is a nothing fighter, he wouldn't bring anything to the ring that Duddy hadn't already seen before...that would make him a "world champion" and put him well and truly in the "world title frame" as it were.
JUNIOR WITTER:
Witter had a shocker against Timo Bradley (not to take anyhting away from Bradley's performance, he was tough, strong and resolute)... But I don't think that this is the last we will have seen of Witter on the world-title stage. I can forsee Witter taking on Demetrius Hopkins next, and providing he doesn't be careless and stays busy, he could win... That would bring him into title contention... Personally, I don't think Hatton would fight him, Bradley is just a bad match-up for Witter... So perhaps he could campaign for a title fight against Kendall Holt... Then, who knows what might happen? But yeah, I think Witter could win a "world title".
SPECIAL MENTIONS GO OUT TO: (good, taletned boxers, who I just don't think will ever makie it right to the top to become a true (World Champion)
Dean Francis, John Murray, Bernard Dunne, Brian Magee, Howard Eastman, Jamie Moore, Michael Jennings, Rendall Munroe, Ian Napa,

Re: Brit Fighters who WILL win a World Title....
Ricky's been IBO champ since beating Castillo. As for his "beloved" IBF... if it was so beloved, why has he relinquished it TWICE before? Urango and Malignaggi have only had the distinction of being "world champions" because of Hatton's disregard for the IBF, and him being a "multi-time champion" as a result of beating them is pretty shallow.Crease wrote:RICKY HATTON:

Re: Brit Fighters who WILL win a World Title....
Its hard to be unequivocal on this one. I'd be pretty confident that Maccarinelli will pick one up again somewhere down the line - even if he loses to Alexeev he will get plenty more shots and has a big enough punch that he'll undoubtedly starch someone somewhere down the line. I'm also pretty certain that Kevin Mitchell will - mainly because I have him down to fight and beat whomsoever wins the Arthur - Cook match up...
Re: Brit Fighters who WILL win a World Title....
Arthur Can't lose that. Cook hasn't really done anything to warrant a shot at Arthur, Mitchell is way more deserving.

True true....
He hasn't fought anyone yet... and probably wont if FW got anything to do with it.
I think he will step up in weight to be honest, and if he does he will probable come unstuck against Napa, Booth or Edmonds at Bantamweight.

Re: Brit Fighters who WILL win a World Title....
Pretty certain Haye will win a title at HW. Khan may make it but I think he will soon get beaten at the top level. Mitchell I dont think will, Euro for me is his limit. Mooresy probably wont get the shot, but deserves it. Froch may win a version but like Khan will be found out at the top level. Macca I think will do better than most believe he will and I see him getting a belt again, WBO probably. Rees I cant see doing it or Witter. Audley no chance, same goes for Williams. I really only see David Haye bringing glory to British boxing because I honestly believe he can mix it with the best HWs. Things have certainly changed over the last year.
