FROM SKY SPORTS

Dennis Holbaek Pedersen has been confirmed as Ricky Hatton's next opponent.

The Danish fighter, nicknamed The Menace, has been confirmed as the late replacement for Kelson Pinto, who has pulled out of Saturday night's WBU and WBO interim light-welterweight showdown.

Pedersen is a lightweight by trade and held the IBF and IBC titles until a defeat by Paul Spadafora way back in November 2002, but has an impressive record of 44 wins from 46 fights, 23 coming by way of knockout.

This is the first time the 29-year-old has been asked to box at light-welterweight having spent most of his 10-year career at lighweight, with forray down into the super-featherweight division, where he was crowned European and IBC champion.

Hatton was due to fight explosive Brazilian Kelson Pinto until he failed to make the trip over from South America, with mystery still surrounding the real reason for his last-minute withdrawal

yeah I cant deny Im not a bit dissapointed buddy but hey, Im on a boys beano with my brother so win win really mate. I was more concerned that hatton wouldnt get an opponent at least we can have a good old cheer and great weekend now.
So im not that dissillusioned. You dont know do you I mean Pinto might have turn up and got done in a round or even the other way round which would have been a right downer on the weekend hey....
I must admit they need to look at this though, the hatton "knockers" are gonna lap this up.. and probably quite rightly but its not his fault pinto is chicken shit. (well might not be true but that what I wanna believe haha)

speaking of which gotta go meet my bro now to give him the run down on the days events he is very confused hahaha...back to the pub it is...laters folks

Hmm. Doesn't this imply to you that Pedersen held the IBF lightweight title until Spadafora beat him? That just isn't true. And I'd also dispute that most of his career has actually been spent at lightweight. Still, as I say on BBN, we've seen worse replacements than this.
