To a certain extent, but there is a legitimate line of true heavyweight champions -- Ali, Holmes, Spinks, Tyson, Douglas, Holyfield, Bowe, Holyfield, Moorer, Foreman, Briggs, Lewis, Rahman, and Lewis -- and these guys were the true champions regardless of sanctioning bodies. The HW championship is bigger than any organization.wouter wrote:Ain't they all?RiddickBowe wrote:just some fake leather belts from corrupt sanctioning bodies.
Botha vs. Axel Schulz for the IBF title in 1995 was an "all white title fight. However, Botha stripped for the title he won in that fight a couple of days later for testing positive for steroids.
The point is though, that no one was calling that for for a legitimate heavyweight title fight at the time, even though the situastion was very much the same as Vitali vs. Sanders.
Bottom line, the only heavyweight championship that will stand the test of times is the linear one, the one that's won and lost in the ring. As of today there is no heavyweight champion of the world.
