That hate spewed out by the Welsh that night was bad.

I can't speak for anyone else.

I hated Hamed for his antics in the ringwalks and during many of his fights - nothing to do with him being of Arab extraction or looking like a 'paki'. I see little parallel between him and Khan (the history of my posts suggests I am a supporter).

Hamed got away with a lot. It was good for him, but better for boxing in general that Barrera put an end to it IMO

Well he pretty much gave up the game after being booed out of the ring against Calvo - I remember at the time that he was visibly affected by the crowd reaction.

To this day I feel it had a bearing on his decision not to fight again.

Great fighter in my book though, and was awesome to watch - I'll never forget him schooling Belcastro in his 12th fight.

Could have and should have achieved more in his career in my opinion.
I agree to an extent. I also think that he could no longer be bothered to make the effort, and especially so if the fans ALWAYS expected him to fight a certain way, which being fair, we all did.

He was rich. He had a great career, and realistically, his achievements were far better than Hatton's or Calzone's. I don't care what ANYONE says.
You could argue that I suppose, but his failure against Barrera and subsequent retirement hurts it.

Did you see the documentary prior to the Barrera fight?

Yes, I've already mentioned it in this thread. Why?

Did he say in the documentary that he wasn't focused, or is there something I've forgotten? Was years ago...

Focus is not something that can be "said". You could see in his actions and attitude that he wasn't focused or training like a p4p level fighter should be.

Very true. It is a contentious issue, but certainly more gifted and skilled than Hatton and Calzaghe whose main thing is fitness.

Agree with the thing about racism too. It was a MASSIVE part of Mayweather-Hatton, although people seemed to cast it aside.

Example: In Manchester, the fan chanting did not begin with "you fat bastard, you fat bastard"

Well, focus is something that can be said :)

Of course we're not expecting the guy to be telling us whether he is or not, but he's always been super arrogant and seemed more interested in ring entrances and hair cuts from around the time he split with Ingle.

Can't argue with the p4p bit though, that haircut scene took the biscuit.

He was just expecting to go in and blow him out.

You could see the concern in Manny Steward in the documentary.... He knew something wasn't right...

He looked horrendous sparring the two mexican prospects too, if I remember rightly. You'd normally think that the editor had just used bad scenes to add to the "message" of the program.. but wasn't Naz's brother on board as an editor or at least part of the production team?

I'm amazed the Hameds actually let that documentary air... it showed him in such a bad light.

Im "Deluded" ? You only need to read the comments of that Video and see which guys hated him and what they said.
Do you really think boxing fans are racist against Naz?

Maybe people hate him because he is one of the mouthiest, brashest, most arrogant and loathsome men ever to lace on gloves?

A lot of people hate Howard Eastman for his aloof manner -- are they racist because hes Guyanan? Or maybe they dont like him because he comes across as a c- unt?

The most popular british fighters ever are not white men.

If people dont like Naz or Amir, its because when they open their mouths and the way they conduct themselves on the street is hard to like.

That's one stupid mistake he made. We all make them.

Reckless driving doesn't make you a bad person. Stupid? Yes.

Same thing happened with Naz, only worse.

Tbh I dont like him because he seems like he is a bit an arsehole. Here in Ireland people didnt like him for that reason. I truly dont think that people hated him on a racial basis , but I may be wrong , there may be different attitudes across the water. I have heard people saying things like "who does he think he is spouting all that crap about allah" which I find disgracful and is no different than a christian thanking his god.[/quote]

Not being funny but most religious people thank their god at the relevant place of worship or in private, not before a big fight in front of millions of viewers and 20 thousand in the crowd and while standing ona Budweiser logo.

That I find disgraceful.

Most people's mistakes don't involve ruining someone's life and braking every bone in a man's body, handicapping him and causing him lifetime depression and breakdown of marriage.....

He would have driven rachly many times, it's just that this was the only accident.

Don't know how you can be so blase about this.

No, but running away from the scene of the accident makes you a bad person - He left the guy for dead and scarpered like a thief in the night.

I'm a big Naz fan, but that's not right.

If you two could read it would be a big help, I was referring to Amir Khan, not Naseem Hamed.

It's not difficult. Nowhere on this thread has anyone condoned Hamed's actions.

Apologies

Yeah, by all accounts Khan was very cooperative after the accident

Alot of the Fans came into fights either to see entertainment from Naz, and sadly other "Fans" came in hope to see the black boy get bashed. as mentioned earlier in the thread. Naz V Robinsion for example, the racist BS was hard to ignore was it.

Justice in its beauty when Naz Decked Robinson front of the very eyes of the Retarded Dim-witted Racists.

Nobody is Saying Naz was not loud or at times arrogant. But it was in his nature to Sell tickets. But Being how he is does not give the excuse to make racist comments like so many people have done.
