Shameless Vann "steaming"

Post by bennie »

Mickey Vann was "steaming" after being told he will not be handling Saturday's WBU title fight between Ricky Hatton and Dennis Holbaek Pedersen.
Vann has refereed 10 of Hatton's last 12 fights and was lined up again for the role.
But said Vann: "Kelson Pinto put a complaint in, saying he didn't want me refereeing, and it was upheld." (Pinto has since pulled out of the fight).
Vann, who will be refereeing Michael Gomez against Eric Odumasi on the undercard, added: "I'm gutted about it. It is very disappointing."

Mickey Vain obviously has a bit of trouble looking at things from the outside, which explains this drama queen outburst.

Might be a bit disappointing for you Mickey, but it's a relief for the rest of the world.

What a joke! The man obviously considers himself Ricky's personal Ref - not that he'll be needing one this weekend anyway.

Very glad he's not the ref. I've seen him more than many US judges.

I read today that Mr Vann is officially judging Hatton's contest versus Pederson.
Can anyone confirm this?
If true it really is taking the proverbial

IF THIS IS TRUE THEN WHAT IS VANN GOING ON ABOUT?
thought this sport was about the boxers not the bloody officials.
Seems a bit prima donna-ish to me.

He's probably more gutted about losing the nice fee he would have got, as much as anything.

Sounds about right - he'll be judging and yelling instructions out to Hatton at the same time:

"The body Ricky! He doesn't like it to the body!!!"

Indeed, Mr Vann was a judge for Hatton's fight last night. As you will have also seen if Sky showed it, he reffed the Gomez 'fight' too.

Micky Vann should be called Mickey Vain.

He's only a ref for Christ sake, now he thinks he's a celebrity.

He should keep his mouth shut.

indeed nice to catch up with ya mate and have a swift beer.
If they announce JC vs Johnson and Hatton vs Mitchell on June 5th Ill do it again for sure. Atmosphere was electric Ive never experienced anything like that at any other sport, it was crackling and almost tangible. Worth the entrance fee on its own, amazing.
Top weekend the only down side is I didnt book Monday off, groan I feel shabby haha.

I just heard that the reason Micky Vann was not the referee for the Hatton fight last week was because Nicky Booth broke in to Vanns house and stole his dancing shoes!

Question: how many of Hatton's fights has Vann NOT been involved with as either the referee or a ringside judge?
