mundines next opponent.
its gonna be interesting now to see what mundine does....im leaning toward a matchup with geale in november/december.
i do however believe that in 2009 mundine will get a chance against one of the big names overseas, to be honest i wouldnt be that surprised if we see mundine-wright next year.
after last night i am very intrigued to see how mundine does against one of the top 160lbers..his hand speed is second to none. i am starting to doubt his power though in all honesty and when he does shed those extra few kilos i dont think he could be considered a 'banger"...the way he went down last night was worrying-very hard to the canvas...but he redeemed himself by recovering so quickly and that was impressive.
mundine - wright is very very hard to call in my opinion.
EDIT: did mundine look so quick last night becoz kim was so slow? and did mundine land so much last night coz kim was so open? i cant tell.

Wright won't get out of bed for less than 5mill, no way he fights Mundine who brings nothing to the table in the US...

Re: mundines next opponent.
but last night shane was saying to barry michael he thinks mundine is ready now and could go str8 at one of the big fights with no warm up bout needed...surely if gbp signs mundine then they can sort it out?Marlin wrote:Wright won't get out of bed for less than 5mill, no way he fights Mundine who brings nothing to the table in the US...
Re: mundines next opponent.
even if gbp signs him the american public doesnt know him that well so a massive money fight is at least acouple of fights awayadamheight wrote:but last night shane was saying to barry michael he thinks mundine is ready now and could go str8 at one of the big fights with no warm up bout needed...surely if gbp signs mundine then they can sort it out?Marlin wrote:Wright won't get out of bed for less than 5mill, no way he fights Mundine who brings nothing to the table in the US...

Re: mundines next opponent.
Mundine is rated no 2 contender for the WBA middleweight title. He should get a shot at that before the end of the year.
Re: mundines next opponent.
i think the rating would be fair if he had fought at the weightBrute wrote:Mundine is rated no 2 contender for the WBA middleweight title. He should get a shot at that before the end of the year.

Hopefully Sturm can make it go the distance in Germany...

i would prefer to see mundane winMarlin wrote:Hopefully Sturm can make it go the distance in Germany...

I was referring to his WBA rating. If he is rated that highly by them he should get a title shot soon.p4p1 wrote:i think the rating would be fair if he had fought at the weightBrute wrote:Mundine is rated no 2 contender for the WBA middleweight title. As a former WBA world champion he would get some bragging rights.

i know u were but to me he should fight at the weight before WBA rates himBrute wrote:I was referring to his WBA rating. Don't tell me, tell them! The WBA has some strange ideas.

Re: mundines next opponent.
If Mundine actually steps up and takes on a Champion or actual contender overseas I will back him %110. I only wanna see him KOed when he faces bums.

Re: mundines next opponent.
The thing Anthony Mundine now has to decide is whether he keep fighting just for the money or does he take risks and try to be the best boxer in his divison and try to creat a legacy etc. If he's just wanting to make money and take no risks then I have no problems with him continually fighting those who pose little risk to him. BUT, if he wants to be the best as he loudly proclaims to be then it's time for him to fight the best regardless of the money.
We never know what goes on behind the scenes i.e who they have offered big monet to fight and been knocked back, but unless he starts fighting guys who actually have a chance of winning he's going to be continually ridiculed.
There is no denying he is very very good athlete but just how good he is will never be proven unless he takes some risks ala Sugar Ray leornard, Muhammad Ali, Thomas Hearns and so forth. To be honest over the course of his career - and disregard the number of fights because unlike other fighters he had the financial resources to be a full time fighter from da one unlike the others who start off as part time boxers - he has only really fought a few legitmate fighers: Echols, Ottke, Greene, Soliman, Kessler and Sciaca. Taking nothing away from Guy Waters, Lster Ellis, Thornberry etc who were good fighters but basically came out of retirement to fight him for the cash.
The only fights locally that would be passable would be Greene (if he wants to fight again), Briggs (if he's fighting), Geale (maybe) and Bika. Besides Pavlik in the middleweights there's no big names which is probably whty he's dropping down to that weight. He should be chasing super middleweights and light heavyweights such as Bute, Taylor, Lacy, Froch, Johnson & Woods to make a name for himself and make himself more attractive to the big guns.

Re: mundines next opponent.
i actually think mundine does want the fights but no one wants him...i mean it makes sense, hes fairly unheard of overseas but damn dangerous......lets say winky (for eg) fights him and winky wins, people stateside will say "so what, who is he"....hes probably looking for the fights but everyone avoids him.The Kirwan Kid wrote:The thing Anthony Mundine now has to decide is whether he keep fighting just for the money or does he take risks and try to be the best boxer in his divison and try to creat a legacy etc. If he's just wanting to make money and take no risks then I have no problems with him continually fighting those who pose little risk to him. I know Winky was just an example, but winky doesn't avoid the awkward/difficult fighter. Remember, he did fight Sam when his profile was less in the US.adamheight wrote:i actually think mundine does want the fights but no one wants him...i mean it makes sense, hes fairly unheard of overseas but damn dangerous......lets say winky (for eg) fights him and winky wins, people stateside will say "so what, who is he"....hes probably looking for the fights but everyone avoids him.The Kirwan Kid wrote:The thing Anthony Mundine now has to decide is whether he keep fighting just for the money or does he take risks and try to be the best boxer in his divison and try to creat a legacy etc. If he's just wanting to make money and take no risks then I have no problems with him continually fighting those who pose little risk to him. He could have had a mandated fight with Kessler but we all know how that turned out...adamheight wrote:[i actually think mundine does want the fights but no one wants him...i mean it makes sense

I'm pretty sure if Mundine could find a way to have a fight without actually having to trade punches - he would.
