Country vs Country
Country vs Country
Should there be an entire international card each year.
Maybe a Trans Tasman Card, or an ashes series to help promote boxing better in Australia.
5 events spread from Heavy to Featherweight Televised live on tv.
Other codes such as Rugby, league, and even soccer seem to cash in on bitter rivalry in Country vs country, and could possibly revive interest,
sponsers and more exposure in boxing Australia.
Some entertaining and interesting fights could come out of these series, here's 1 possible outcome Australia vs UK
Heavy; John McDermott VS Kali Meehan
SuperMid; Carl Froch VS Antony Mundine
Middle; John Duddy VS Daniel Geale
Light; Amir Khan VS Michael Katsidis
Sup Feather; Kevin Mitchell VS William Kickett
There could have been many more Matchups, tell me what you think.

I like the concept. It's the sort of thing that if promoted correctly msy get the average Joe having a look. Perhaps post this in the british boxing forum and see what you get.

I like the idea behind it but you couldnt get all them guys on the same card. It might work for prospects with a decent main event but not 5 main events on one card.
Re: Country vs Country
ok big fella, i'll play devil's advocate!! why not????
Re: Country vs Country
Fair comment. But as Toppity said managed right and with a bit more exposure thiers nothing stopping us filling a venue of 50000 spectators.ben k wrote:[

which would pay the fighters quite well, and all other third parties. we only have to look at Green vs Mundine a good old fashion rivalry that made millions for all concerned and purely succeded because of rivalry.
We are a country that love our sport, and part of our problem with boxing is crappy undercard and sub par main event.
I do agree i was reaching with the card i put together, but if Mundine can get Dib & Pittman on his undercard (prospects) i think surely someone else can promote maybe 2 mains and 3 good prospects. Here' another card. Australia VS United Kingdom
Heavy; Solomon Haumono vs Audley Harrison
SMW; Anthony Mundine vs Carl Froch
Middle; Jamie Pittman vs Darren Barker
Jnr Middle; Ryan Waters vs Andrew Facey
Jnr Light; Billy Dibb vs Nicky Cook
Like all Series thier has to be a winner, and 1 country gets bragging rights for the year.
I really believe this card could take place , as mundines card had every Australian on my card except Waters. Some fighters ,not mentioning any names (mundine) would have to take a pay cut in order to make this happen, but it would give the sport good exposure and help in it's developement.
Tell me what you think.
Re: Country vs Country
i reckon that there is only two in the last card that might not want to get involved. Mundine and Harrison. If mundine wasn't there then Solo probably wouldn't be either. However, I really like these matchups. love to see it happen.

Re: Country vs Country
An Aussie vs UK or an Aussie vs NZ would be the two that would play on the non-boxing Aussies the most. Aussie vs. NZ would be easier (and cheaper) to put together a card than an Aussie vs. UK IMO. May not be quite as competitive overall tho depending on who you matched up.

Here is a somewhat realistic card I came up with:
Tyrone Tongia v Steve Heremaia
Porky Lovett v Daniel McKinnon
Mark De Mori v Joey Wilson
Umm... I think that's about it...
Re: Country vs Country
surely aus have a better jnr middle then ryan waters
Re: Country vs Country
Tyrone Tongia, Robbie Bryant, Daniel Dawson...
Re: Country vs Country
Has Ryan Waters fought anyone decent?

can't wait the see the rock test himself again.Marlin wrote:Tyrone Tongia, Robbie Bryant, Daniel Dawson...

Unfortunately I still can't get over how often Geale tagged him...toppity wrote:can't wait the see the rock test himself again.Marlin wrote:Tyrone Tongia, Robbie Bryant, Daniel Dawson...
Re: Country vs Country
now he is back with ron he is much harder to hit when he gets inside and starts throwing combo's he is very good and he has lots of power and has pretty good speed i think it will be exellent when he starts testing himself again as he is hungry and is aiming for the WBA super welterweight championship, i also think he could beat geale in a rematch he is hugely better under ron parrMarlin wrote:Unfortunately I still can't get over how often Geale tagged him...toppity wrote:can't wait the see the rock test himself again.Marlin wrote:Tyrone Tongia, Robbie Bryant, Daniel Dawson...
Re: Country vs Country
Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of The Rock and as you say I can't wait to see him test himself again
Re: Country vs Country
Agreed^^^^, Think it is time Dawson steps up.
Re: Country vs Country
Totally Agree, think Dawson and Medley Are our 2 best Light Middles, however trying to provide a realistic and interesting card.huricn wrote:surely aus have a better jnr middle then ryan waters

Cameron should beat Solo, Pittman should win against Junior (but who knows where Pittmans head is at), Medley should best Tongia (based on experience), Lovett will definatlely KO Masoe who is over the hill (where is Pawpaw when you need him), the Dominator would do just that to Tai (who is a blown up LH).
IMO that means 4-1 to Australia. Out of all those Cameron v Solo would be the best IMO.
Re: Country vs Country
Australia V Asia
Ndou v Bahari (Indonesia)
Pittman v Eguchi (Japan)
Katsidis v Ganoy (Phillipines)
kickett v Uchiyama (Japan)
Asiku v Piriyapinyo (Thailand)
There could have been 10 cards for this one so many to choose from.

Re: Country vs Country
Tongia and Talipeau are considered Austraian aren't they... I'm pretty sure Talipeau even has/had an Aussie Title...
