Re: Marine Corps Boxing Invitational Tournament 28-30 August
I think that this is an opportune time for both men and women boxers to get some quality boxing as we will have some of the country's top officials working this tournament. We will also have it professionally recorded so that you may obtain a copy. Many are successful as they were at the right place at the right time. The window of opportunity is closing, don't let it close on you. Ron (910) 358-3244.

The tournament was a success considering it was the first year. There were no complaints as the Brazilian scoring system was utilized. The spectators really got into the scoring system as it was displayed on 46" monitors. The officials were consistent in scoring jabs and straight shots whether to the head or body. It looked as if the short shoe shine punches were not counted. All participants received T-shirts as the Champions in the open divisions received $200 belts made by Ringside while the runner-ups received plaques.
The Champions in the novice division received Gold medals and the runner-ups received Silver medals.
We will do it again next June 09. It will be limited to 8 contestants per weight class so look for the applications and get them back early.
Thanks to USA Boxing, RingSide (Albert Guardado is the man!), the fantastic officials, Camp Lejeune Sports & Events staff, The Globe (Jaime Cameron), Sandy Pino, Pam Hodge, Camp Lejeune's IT personnel, Dr. Playford & Dr. Blivins and their staff, all of the coaches and athletes that participated and special thanks to the Marines whom train & fight to keep us free so that we have the opportunity to do what we do.
Do not miss it next year it will be bigger and better!

Re: Marine Corps Boxing Invitational Tournament 28-30 August
Yep - do we want to keep it for the results? Or delete from this forum?
Re: Marine Corps Boxing Invitational Tournament 28-30 August
Thanks Mel. I would say keep it for the results and just let it move down into the historical topics as time goes by.
Re: Marine Corps Boxing Invitational Tournament 28-30 August
Okey doke. I'll probably add it to my web site's results, too.
