Re: what weight...
Ever seen Ricky Hatton between fights???J wrote:super middle, last I heard he was in at at around 11.5 stone.Wales wrote:At what weight is hamed hoping to make a comeback at? Must be difficult to make the 9stone limit.
thats alot of weight to shift.
Come on..hes a professional. If he has to shift the weight, he'll shift the weight.
I heard £35mjamesmcdonnell wrote:Last I heard was he earned a total of 45 million in his career, although to be honest these figures are usually plucked from a hat, and don't ever include training costs etc.
Either way, you're unlikely to see him queuing outside the Post Office on Thursday mornings....
your not reading what I wrote mate, its well documented and known that its more difficult to shift weight as you get older, I would be very surprised Naz older body frame allow shim to get back to down to his orginal fighting wegiht.
Asides from this, this is weight he has been carrying for 2 or more years not a few weeks that also makes it more more difficult.

Maybe, but we have been hearing about the on/off Brodie fight for a while now but still nothing concrete from Naz.bennie wrote:Naz can come back successfully in my opinion. He fancies the Brodie challenge .
I don't think Naz is shot but I strongly believe we have seen the best of him (I'm a Naz fan by the way).
If he does return I feel he either needs to return to his early willow-the-wisp, fast combination style , or if his reflexes and legs don't allow him to do this, he needs to alter his style to compensate for any slowing of hand speed and reflexes.
HOWEVER: I remember listening to a interview with Naz on the radio during his early title reign, Naz said something to the effect of "My style is unique but I take a lot from the styles of Mike Tyson and Muhammed Ali".
Nothing wrong with that, but I felt during the last couple of years of his title reign Naz seemed to adopt the worst aspects of (the older versions of) Ali and Tyson's styles.
E.g. Ali - Willingness to take head shots to prove how tough he is and not changing defence to compensate for slowing reflexes.
Tyson - Just loading up and looking for the one big KO, not throwing fast combinations.
Interesting rumour, and although I trust the word of John Shep I will still only truly believe it when I see something announced. I guess the fact that Naz hasn't officially retired still offers some hope that he hasn't turned it in for good.
And as much stick as I've given the bloke recently a Brodie-Hamed fight this summer would:
1 - Be massive.
2 - Get Goz up to Manchester for it.

I really don't know what to think about this. I think my feelings on Hamed are well known, part of me is saying I don't want to line the pockets of this fraud any more than I already have by paying to see him fall (note: by fraud I mean, check out the career earnings of Hamed and Barrera, who's the better fighter? whose earned more? Not the same guy).
However, another part of me is think mmm Pacquiao, Marquez, Barrera, Morales, Frietas, Corrales, Casamayor, Jesus Chavez
Good luck, he'll need it.

Ok this is justified by me thinking Harrisons a stupid twat, because he was like "Oh yeah ill kick Naseems arse if he stepped into the ring with me" and then he steps in with Medina and losses (although he tried so hard) When Hamed beet him when they were both in prime not the shot Medina of today and he was also carrying a chest infection, while all the while Brodie working his arse off will never be on the level of Hamed he is just a better fighter stronger, faster, smarter should i continue.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Oh god, it's Nasty in another guise....
Pray tell what this erudite and sage opinion is based on, sage n onion more like....
He hasn't even been in a ring for 2 bloody years, and yet you are so convinced he can beat one of the top 10 featherweights in the world....
Explain why

Yes, but Hamed has been out of the ring for 2 years, and will be nearer 3 if and when he finally does come back. Harrison is younger, bigger and stronger, though not a harder hitter.
Hamed looked in decline since before the Barrera fight, and was very hittable, he is hardly going to have improved on that in his comeback after such a long time out.

It's not that surprising he's got the type of body which lends itself to being a bit chubby, most Asians do, it's the genotype, and to be honest a hell of a lot of fighters let themselves go once they retire. He's bascially carrying 40 extra lbs compared to his fighting weight, which means in reality he's about 25-30 lbs overweight in normal non-athelete terms. Hardly that shocking.
Trust me, he can lose the weight in that time if he trains right, and he can come in strong too, he doesn't have to lose the weight quickly after all.

{amateur} wrote:Naseem Hamed will make weight really easily and he will easily dismantle both Brodie and Harrison I would not go over board on Harrison being stronger and better because If he fights Hamed he is going to get beaten really badly.
are you seif in disguise dude?
lets see how he gets on shall we before making bold statements like that.

Beleive it or not, but losing money is not very hard to do. I am a businessman and I have seen some very clever, very rich people go skint.Southpaw Stylist wrote:There is no way Naz is skint. NO WAY.
You dont have to be a mug or a tosser to go skint, just a couple of ill judged or overly optimistic commercial decisions is usually all it takes.
I wouldnt be at all surprised if he is skint. Not at all surprised.

Whilst of course it is possible, there is nothing to suggest that is the case, Hamed has kept a very low profile, and hasn't had a lifestyle that would lead you to believe he is skint. You have to really go some to lose that amount of money, I know it's happened before, but I think we would have heard some rumours by now if that were the case.

One thing is for sure. There is no way, no way he has got 30 million.J wrote:Funnily enough today centre pages of the Sun (so it must be true) he listed as having 30 mill.
Sorry ok I read the sun but its all I can handle on the way in to work at 7 am tits and sport.![]()

After tax, managers, and trainers fees, lawyers and accountants fees he might have wound up with 10 million, and most, if not all of that would have been in various businesses (which I would be interested to see how they performed), property (which is very illiquid), shares (which have been extremely volatile) and gilts or government bonds (which are steady but unspectacular).
I suspect that what money he has is very tied up and he's coming back for some liquid cash.
Saying that, I'd be very interested to see how the actual businesses (not property or shares) he has been involved with have performed.
