Scott McDonald wins Light Fly for the Lodge

Post by E »

Established and famous Lambeth ABC The Fitzroy Lodge won its first ABA Title for 10 years last night when Scott Macdonald won the Light Fly berth in the 3rd Round.

Amazingly I think it was the first champion since Guy Williamson, despite several near misses, including transplanted Russian Mohammed Khamkoer, who lost in the ABA Super Heavy finals to Danny Watts, although only after flattening Audley Harrison.

Good stuff.

Other results include Guthrie winning the title at Middleweight, beaten the boxing jinx of 'the man with the most tattoos always loses'.

I was well chuffed for Scott. After a being an exellent junior and youth amatuer for St.Josephs, he's proved his worth at Senior level too. St.Josephs must take a lot of the credit for Scott's sucess.

Why the T-shirt? Did someone forget the vests?

And why only a few seconds on BBC, he deserved a lot more than that?

Yeah, the t-shirt was because no one brought any vests! At least he stood out...

I don't know why the BBC didn't show any more, he boxed well and stopped his man....but I guess they are prjudiced against the lighter weights.....

It would be nice if Scott got a crack at one of the Olympic qualifying tournaments in Europe as a reward. :D [/img]

.....And now Scott win the Four Nations too ! From the two rounds BBC2 screened Scott boxed agressively and reeled of nice combinations, often finishing with a left hook.

Come on ABAofE give Scott a chance!

Agreed. Such a shame Scott doesn't get the breaks. Maybe he will soon, but it could end up being too late if Scott has plans to turnover to the pro game.

I saw Scott beat Darrin Langley in the ABA South East division final, a couple of years ago, and he showed no signs of being put off by the fact Langley had beaten him previously. He's got a wonderful attitude to boxing has MacDonald and deserves his England call up.
