Jason Booth spinning a yarn...

Post by bennie »

Jason Booth claims he was suffering from shingles in his IBO title defence against Dale Robinson in Huddersfield.
"I should not have boxed," admitted Booth. "I got a rash on my face a couple of days before the fight and went to the doctor.
"I felt terrible on the night but there was no way I was going to pull out. I had to go through with it. I need the money.
"People think because you are a 'world' champion you have lots of money. But it's not true.
"I also want to win my Lonsdale belt back at some stage.
"It hurt having to give it back just because I won the 'world' title.
"Rules are rules, I know. But I do feel a bit cheated, because no-one would fight me for it."
This shingles story is probably BS from Jason. He revealed this in the Nottingham press, and is just trying to deflect the headlines away from his brother Nicky in my opinion, currently on remand on several charges.

Shingles certainly seems to be doing the rounds across the UK Boxing gyms lately.

Anyone who has had shingles or even knows anyone who has had shingles must be aware that to box 12 hard rounds, as Jason did, would be IMPOSSIBLE.

Maybe he was mis-quoted and actually had 'Pringles' two days before the fight and not shingles? Once you pop you just can't stop and he hadn't digested after quaffing 10 tubes of his favourite sour cream & chives flavour.

It wouldn't surprise me if that wasn't the only thing he was popping before that fight.
