I thought DeGale looked fine after a nervous first round, he was always going to find it hard to start with ,there was alot of pressure on his shoulders being the first British guy boxing.

Was impressed by the Russian guy in an earlier bout, he looks a real strong handfull.

Julian Jackson's lad (good to see The Hawk in the corner) was incredibly slow though. Well done to Egan, however.

Anyone think that the scoring in the Chinese lightheavies bout was a bit dodgy? Thought the Tunisian landed more than 1 punch. Hope thats not a sign of things to come

The scoring is about as reliable as the SATs exams.

Yeah, at one point I thought that the computer might have broken down!

Computer scoring was brought in to get away from the Roy Jones style fiascos, lets just hope the judges remember to hit the button for the Chinese fighter's opponents once in a while.

Thought both Degale and Egan's opponents efforts merited more on the scoreboard than they got although there's no doubt that both were comfortable winners. It seems to me that once a boxer has established a clear lead the judges seem to only see that boxer and score his work while the guy who's behind has to work that much harder for his scores. Not that this is specific to these Olympics, I think it's been that way in all the major tournaments recently.

Saying it is beyond him is wrong, anyone can beat anyone in the Olympics...but Korobov is a serious operator and performs when he has to.

To my limited knowledge SATs are used as assessments at 3 'key stages':

Year 2 (Age 7) Year 6 (Age 11) & Year 8 (Age 14).

Dunno what that has got to do with boxing, but there you go..

And, if you want to be pedantic, SATs don't actually exist. They are the National Curriculum Tests and SATs is merely a nickname.

Well, he was buggered when he won the Worlds in Chicago. And then when Bradley Saunders won bronze at 64 – thus qualifying for Beijing – he was double buggered!

It's said that he struggled terribly at the weight in Chicago, yet he produced the performances of his career to win the tournament.

They had to give him every opportunity to make the weight right up til the final hour. You have to assume they thought the heat and humidity of China would shift the final few pounds.

Depending on which way you look at it, it's a major cock-up or just terribly sad.
