While looking at the record of a fighter who fought out of Toronto Canada named Tony Morrison I had found the following error. Boxrec has listed his fight with Roddy McDonald which took place on May 6 1986 in Halifax Nova Scotia as being for the Canadian Cruiser weight title. This is incorrect, the fight was actually for the Canadian light heavyweight title. (175 lbs.) Back then Canada did not recognize the Cruiser weight division or any of the other Junior or Super divisions. Only the traditional 8 weight classes were recognize by the Canadian Professional Boxing Federation.
McDonald was the reigning light heavyweight champion at the time and Morrison was the challenger. McDonald weighed 175 for the fight and Morrison 173.5.
Also, the fight with Morrison and then Canadian Heavyweight champion Willie DeWitt which took place on Feb. 20th 1988 was for DeWitt's Canadian Heavyweight title. However the fight was only scheduled for 10 rounds. DeWitt weighed in at 214 and Morrison at 202.

Its possible, and in fact probable, that the MacDonald vs. Morrison fight was for the light heavyweight title, but it would have been for the vacant title and not a defense of MacDonald. The fact that Willie Featherstone won the Canadian title at 175 by beating MacDonald in August 1986 also supports your theory that the MacDonald vs. Morrison fight was for the title at 175.

Yes you are right, it was in fact for the vacant title which Lalonde had vacated. I spoke to Morrison about it and he also cleared it up. He said that because McDonald was the hometown kid, they acted like he was already the champion before the fight even took place.
Anyway, it should be corrected on boxrec. The fight was for the Canadian light heavyweight title and not Cruiser weight. Also
I noticed that the weights were listed for his fight with Willie DeWitt and then taken off again. Why is that?

I agree that the boxrec database should be corrected. I've corrected the appropriate wiki page in the encyclopaedia (see here: http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.php/C ... tle_Fights), but I'm not a BoxRec editor, so I can't assist with the database.
