Post by bennie »

GRAHAM EARL will defend his British lightweight title against Bobby Vanzie on the Michael Sprott-Matt Skelton show in Reading on April 24.
Kevin Mitchell also appears on the bill.

I'll go for Vanzie as well, If he loses this one his career really is in trouble!! It's my girlfriends Birthday that weekend, I'm sort of hoping that she wants to do something on the Friday night as I'm looking forward to this bill. :D

On the fence, one is on the slide and the other hasn't looked impressive for a while.

However, I heard Vanzie had one or two problems before the last fight - maybe this contributed more to his poor showing than age or wear and tear. So I'll just give the edge to Vanzie - but he looks very beatable now, no stamina.

Same here, Vanzie is another guy who's had a lot of bad luck in his career, i hope he gets a break.

Bobby Vanzie:

British Lightweight title twice
Successful Defences of the British Lightweight titles
5 successful defences of the Commonwealth Lightweight title
Holding the British and Commonwealth Lightweight titles simultaneously

Bad Luck???

I think not. Although I did think he was unlucky to lose to Earl last time out. He is blatantly on the slide though.

Even though Vanzie is on the slide, I still think he is capable of beating Earl, who I have been totally unimpressed with. It was the first time I had watched Earl against Vanzie the first time around, and with an 18-0 record going into the fight, I was expecting a lot more. And to top it off, he looked even worse against journeyman Jon Honney, a fight in which I thought he was very lucky to get the nod again.

I think the Steve Murray fight blew Earl up a bit, impressive though it was, it didn't look like the Steve Murray we all know and he might have got some false confidence from this.

This is not the case. Earl is defending against Vanzie on May 6 in Barnsley.

Warren is really going into overdrive with Vanzie, who he detests. Yesterday, it was April 24. Today, May 6. Tomorrow, who knows?
