WBA now have 3 Superfly champions

Post by Old bones Ian »

How much money can the WBA wring out of a world title, loads if you have 3 in one weight division.

Rafael Concepcion hold the 'Interim' World title, he defends that against Jorge Arce

Nobuo Nashiro holds the 'World' title and defends that against Kohei Kono on the SAME day as Conception defends his, so why are they not just fighting each other???

Then we have 'Super' Champion Cristian Mijares , who is going to defend against someone else.

What a f*cking joke.

I am past the stage about counting the WBA as a world title (apart from the 'super' belt holder). It's a joke of an organisation.

The WBA acknowledge Lennox on their site since apparently It was his suggestion that started It

Strange how they can do an Interim when the norm belt Is vacant.

I would f#ckin love to attend one of those annual WBA championship conventions down in Caracas. Can you imagine it?

"I'm the WBA champion!"

"No, i'm the WBA champion!"

"No! I'M the WBA champion!!"

And if any of those three gets injured and has to take a hiatus from the sport, they'll become "champion in recess", and meanwhile whichever belt they left behind will be fought for by somebody else.

Very true Mr Fennel,

let's look on the bright side - instead of 4 organisational champions, we could actually have four WBA champions at the same weight.... I am not a fan of Super-champs (who is?), but I can sort-of understand the WBA reasoning for it.... but to have 3 or 4 champs at one weight of the same governing body is mind-blowing.

Yes, I don't like Super champs, but I understand the concept. I also understand the concept of interim champs, but when you've got the interim and regular champ both fighting regularly, that just takes the piss.

I understand the concept of super-champs -- to rinse money out of fighters and devalue their own world title.

Interim titles are the new thing, over used and needless, most of the interim champs are champion despite the actual champ active and competiting.

Excusing the WBA by gents like yourselves deadens my soul slightly.

What a grim statement to make. There is NO fair reasoning behind the super champs.

I didn't say it was fair, what I meant was I simply understood the wording of why the WBA set it up. Not at all a justification, I think it's every bit as shit as you do.

WELL SAID Mr Fennel. :TU:

I also do not like super-champions, all I am saying is that I can see where/why they were done - it doesn't mean I agree with it. Heck, I "understand" why there are 4 legit world titles, and the ring belt - but I wish there was only ONE!
