Is this Khan fight going to happen???

Post by fatton »

Khan fight is only 3 weeks away from Saturday night and no opponent or tv confirmed. Looks like someone still hasn't sorted out their "scheduling difficulties". Anyone think this fight is actually going to happen? If it doesn't it will leave a lot of pissed off fighters, particularly the likes of Enzo, Harrison and Macklin who would have had 2 dates in a row scrapped.

Within 48 hours they reckon.

Anyone heard about Murray moving into the frame? - Seems it's either him or Gainer.

I reckon is could be Rees - he was supposedly on the first Rogan v Harrison bill so I assume he's in training. And with them both being with Sports Network it wouldn't be hard to make.

Hatton was talking up a fight with Khan there.

Hatton Vs Khan in Wembley, Hatton's retirement purse?

With Mayweather retired and Pac's future post-Oscar (if it happens) uncertain, it might be the biggest fight left for Hatton.

From the local rag:
American veteran Derrick Gainer remains the most likely candidate to meet Khan in four weeks’ time, though new British lightweight champ John Murray is still a possibility.

The 21-year-old’s team would prefer the Bolton star to face an experienced overseas fighter as he looks to test himself against a variety of different styles.

With this in mind, southpaw Gainer, a 35-year-old former WBA featherweight champion, fits the bill perfectly as Khan looks to continue his path towards a world-title shot.

Meanwhile, Ricky Hatton has refused to rule out a showdown against the Olympic silver medalist.

Does anyone here. Even give Murray a 1% chance of getting this fight? allegedly always likes to name drop.

lolz, true.

I just found it amusing that arguebally the biggest "Hatton" fan has the nerve to accuse another fighter for padding his record.

Even if it is 'Smoke' Gainer they don't want to give him too long to prepare.

Would not be suprised if Khan fight is pulled from this card through to him picking up an injury
The show would still be showing title fights and all the boxes are ticked , apart from it would not be box office .

Lets get Yuri Romanov on the blower.

Seriously though, if Khan handled Romanov, having seen the fella slice up Jon Thaxton at York Hall up close & personal, i would NEVER ever doubt or criticise Amir again for life! And that's a guarantee *

* not a guarantee

England v Andorra or Khan v Gainer, which result is the bigger formality?

Khan talks about his desire to become a champion sooner rather than later, but with only three weeks remaining until his next scheduled outing, no opponent has been named yet!

Khan has months to get into shape, yet his opponent, whoever it turns out to be, only gets three weeks to prepare. That's a raw deal right there! This will be a walkover for Khan. If its not, then there should be some considerable concern in his camp.
