southpaw jinx for steeds

Post by giant killer grant »

as it is getting close for steeds to fight norton and i am training for my 3rd amatuer fight my trainer thought it would be a good idea for me to spar with steeds and as i am southpaw it would be a bonus or so he thought .i dont mean to brag but a straight left straight down the pipe was bouncing off his beak with ease .I thought the difference between amatuer and pro would be worlds apart i have sparred other amatuers with a higher standard .ok i admit it was only over 4 rounds but he was breathing heavier than me my trainer pulled me to one side after and said i outpointed him .He was making the most stupid mistakes because he has sparred and fought right hand fighters he keeps moving to his right to advoid a right hander but he was forgetting i am a southpaw and kept walking straight into my left . and before you all say because you are a amatuer he took it easy i can tell you i know mick and seen him spar and fight and he was trying to mix it .if i did not have those stupid big 14 oz sparring gloves on and had a harder punch he would have been on the canvas more times than a artist .I will spar him again soon i might get my mate to record it onhis mobile then stick it on you tube

It's not clever to put this on a boxing forum if you don't want to be tarred as a wanker.

Food for thought. :TU:

I sparred with a pro lightweight years ago when i was 18, first round i moved round him jabbed, and was catching him with rights easily, thought this is a piece of piss. Even gave him a cheeky wink at the end of the round
Second round, he then proceded to show me what he could do, and hammered me, not really hard but just prolonged for the whole round, then he asked me why i didn't wink at him at the end of the round. Lesson learned.

You lot sound like you have real sour grapes, probably because you're p#ssed you could never survive or spar with a pro fighter.

Hes a young lad whos excited about what hes done, the tone is hardly bragging, leave him alone.

Stop being bitter you fat middle aged c#nts sat on sofas calling actual boxers 'tools' and 'w#nkers'. Go in the gym and call this grant fella that -- now that'd be a You Tube vid worth watching.

I don't know how good your reading comprehension skills are but it is of some lad (probably a white collar boxer) bragging about how he would KO said pro fighter if he had smaller gloves.

I don't know about you but it is highly disresepctful - especially as Grant has come on here saying what a good
mate Steeds is.

Since when do boxers abide to the 'what goes on in sparring stays in sparring' rule? Most are quite happy to say when they got 1 up on someone especially if they are a more highly rated fighter

To all of you who said what kind of a mate am i .Well in my eyes i am a very good mate because i am honest if micky had been doing well in training and sparring i would praise him up what do you want me to do lick his arse and say your going to be the champ of the world you look awesome and this fight will be easy that does more damage than good . There is seven weeks left till the fight with norton and micky is nowhere near ready . He is not fired up enough it is if he is fighting for a free t shirt . micky has a lot on his mind with trying to get a new home and a new baby on the way but this should push him to train more he should want to go in that ring and hit norton so hard he will have to have his mail redirected to a new postcode . In my opinon he should postpone this fight till december do a proper training camp and then he has a good chance but this fight has been rescheduled so much he will have to take it ready or not

if you have told him so to his face then yes you are a good friend.

however I question wheter that a good friend would slap this all over the internet.

But whatever I dont really care that much. Godo luck to Micky though once got in a black cab driven by his old man who seemed a nice bloke. :TU:

Maybe I'm veering too much into conspiracy theory here, but it just seems such a bizarre couple of posts from 'giant killer grant' that I'm seriously wondering whether it's actually someone close to Steeds who's deliberately putting out misinformation in a bid to lull Norton into a false sense of security.
When you think about it, it's a really sneaky way to give Norton the impression that he's going to be in for any easy fight...

think micky knows that he does seem to be a lot more mature since leaving john rooney and joining mark roe he is more focused now. he wasnt bad at heavy and gave kenna all he wanted and more .if he puts performances in like that when he has just came out the pub he would be a handful for anyone at cw when he has trained
