This is unbelievable..FOXTEL are advertising it as being on Mainevent PPV!!!!! This will be one I won't be paying for. Or for that matter bother going to the pub to watch unless the undercard is something special.
Re: foxtel doing Solomon Haumono v Sebastian Ignacio Ceballos?
^ The card doesn't look anything special to me and you're right on a Wednesday I doubt I will even go to the pub for it... Is the Main Event likely to start at 11pm again?

almost impossible to call it a card at the moment. TBA will be busy as usual. He'll have to cut weight early and then get up to Heavy for the last fight. I might go to the pub to watch it, they do sell beer there after all. :P

Re: foxtel doing Solomon Haumono v Sebastian Ignacio Ceballos?
i knew boxa promotions were greedy but i didnt know they were stupid....
...probably less than 200 buys for the whole of the country.

Don't get me wrong - I'd love to see Haumono fight but at $49.95 Austar is kidding itself lol.
Re: foxtel doing Solomon Haumono v Sebastian Ignacio Ceballos?
that is one of the funniest thing i've heard of for ages, fair duinkum, who is going to part with that. I would love to know if anyone on this forum will purchase it. if there is no one who is, by the very fact you bother to post here, a true boxing fan perpared to purchase it then what hope do they have. I truly hope they publish the number of purchases, just for fun. Also, will someone have some questions to answer at mainevent on thursday?madcake wrote:Don't get me wrong - I'd love to see Haumono fight but at $49.95 Austar is kidding itself lol.

spot on...i doubt any of us would pay a subscription to watch solomon haumono fight an argentian plumber/boxer.toppity wrote:that is one of the funniest thing i've heard of for ages, fair duinkum, who is going to part with that. Re: foxtel doing Solomon Haumono v Sebastian Ignacio Ceballos?
we should all go to the mainevent site and use their "contact us" page to send them a message regarding this diabolical display of stupidity....
i sent them this:
Solomon Haumono PPV:
that's very funny...are you guys trying to set a record for the lowest number of PPV sales in boxing television history?
what are you guys thinking? it really is ludicrous and insulting to expect people to pay $30 to watch a man who has never headlined a boxing card.

Re: foxtel doing Solomon Haumono v Sebastian Ignacio Ceballos?
A one off for Haumono.
I doubt it will make enough sales to offset production costs.
His lack of personality makes him a marketing nightmare.
If he was outspoken, different story. But hes to humble.
Plus hes fighting someone no one has ever heard of.

Re: foxtel doing Solomon Haumono v Sebastian Ignacio Ceballos?
^^ i agree with the lack of sales for this particular fight. it's going to stink up the record books.
However I disagree about having to be an outspoken individual, or not humble, to be PPV worthy.
here is a quick list of current fighters/not long retired fighter who are humble and not over the top when speaking in public
Kostya Tszyu
Shane Mosley
ODH
Kelly Pavlik
Winky Wright
even current local up and comers
Kickett
Geale
I would rather watch every single one of them than a not too humble loud mouth like Mundine.
However, it should also be noted that both types of fighters can attract good PPV numbers, there are no formula's to follow, no paint by numbers in boxing promotion.

Nah I'll go to the pub and spend the $49.95 on drinks instead - I won't be buying it for here at home :)toppity wrote:that is one of the funniest thing i've heard of for ages, fair duinkum, who is going to part with that. Re: foxtel doing Solomon Haumono v Sebastian Ignacio Ceballos?
Id say it would be 29.95 as that is what they charged for Vic Darchinyan. I wont buy it unless i get the urge to watch boxing on that night and Wednesday night fights isnt on Espn.

I can't see it being more than $29.ben k wrote:Id say it would be 29.95 as that is what they charged for Vic Darchinyan. I wont buy it unless i get the urge to watch boxing on that night and Wednesday night fights isnt on Espn.
But this will be a costly and bad business decision by boxa promotions.
Im sure you have to pay main event a solid fee, to be aired. And then rest is profits and shared with them.
But i seriously doubt whether this will make much profit, if any.
