There is plenty of footage of David Price's opening round foe Islam Timurziev on youtube.
For example:

Looks like a 1st round exit could be on the cards for the scouse big un.

I wonder why Roberto Cammarelle never went pro? - he has been around for years - I would have thought a big Italian who can fight could make a few quid as a pro over on the American East Coast.
That said, the pro game isnt for everyone.

As I understand the amateur scene is well funded in Italy (correct me if I'm wrong.)TerribleTerry wrote:I wonder why Roberto Cammarelle never went pro? - he has been around for years - I would have thought a big Italian who can fight could make a few quid as a pro over on the American East Coast.

Not only do I think Price will be out this afternoon but I think he will be domestic class as
a pro.
I can't see him doing anything - Terry Edwards boast that Price is better than Audley ever
was is a joke!

Ian, says on the BBC Price is on at 12:
1043: As I was saying, Brits we've got coming up include: Liverpool's David Price in the boxing super-heavyweight category at around 1200;

Just watched the Chinese Super Heavy.
Despite coming up against one of the weakest fighters in the Super Heavy division, he still got huge favour with the judges.
Think it ended 14/15-0.
Cannot believe the Morrocan fella did not get a single point.
The Chinese fella is huge but nothing special, although with judges and the typical favourable draw, he is worth an each way punt.

From BBC again:
1505: It's all winding up now in Beijing, but we still have some Brits in action. Super-heavyweight David Price is on in about 30 minutes, GB's men are playing the Netherlands in the hockey and Jane Gregory and Emma Hindle are in action in the individual dressage. Struggling to find any info on the dressage, I'll keep trying...

Re: Can someone do a heavyweight olympic news thread ?
Roberto Cammarelle won in a stroll, he really looked good and he was probably only fighting at 70% of his ability.
I thought the young Columbian Oscar Rivas was given a hard time by Nielly and Woodall, he wasn't the disgrace they kind of suggested he was, he just wasn't being warned by the ref for holding, so can't really be faulted, he was shattered.
Rivas looked like he was going to be really good after the first round against the Bulgarian, but fell away late on, still i don't mind watching him against Cammarelle in the next round, should be interesting for at least a round.

Re: Can someone do a heavyweight olympic news thread ?
Yeah, big win when you consider the Russian was the favourite for gold. Premature stoppages in amateur boxing are as big a problem as the scoring.funso banjo baby wrote:great win for david..premature but islam went down softly the second time

Things are going quite well so far, let's hope it continues.
