I think he tried to win with what he brought that day, but was not prepared for Cooney on that day.
Prime vs Prime? All things equal? I'd bet on Young and plan to collect. But that's not even close to the way the cards were stacked on that day. IMHO
There is no conspiracy. No one paid Young to lose. There was no need. He was finished by then. That's why the fight was made.
