There was a really good Ghanian last night who; surprise surprise, got robbed against some Brazilian. They apparently don't like guys actually trying to box in China.

Point Taken. Unfortunetly it seems that is a huge part of amatuer boxing nowadays, the commentators here in Canada wont shutup about how one guy keeps holding or fouling, thats pretty much become the whole telecast.

That same Brazilian got beatup by Augastama bodyshots all night in the first round and imo was lucky to get through , maybe the judges think hes handsome or something?

I was surprised Azea went out so soon, considering how dominant he was at Golden Gloves this year. Kind of unfair though he was boxing only 3 months ago and a lot of other guys weren't allowed to do anything.

I really like Samir. His brother lost too, Issah Samir, in 54kg on Tuesday. He has a ready-made pro style and I think he'll do well. He had a full tank after throwing heavy nonstop.

I still think the Ghanians should protest that.

Don't feel bad. Our commentators are doing the same thing.

BTW, Corey and Kolya - if Teddy Atlas says "physicality" one more time - I am going to pierce my eardrums with a pencil. He must have used "ludicrous" so much around Tyson, he used it once every three sentences

If I have to hear Bob Papa and Teddy whine and spout off about the electronic scoring one more time, I'm going to punch them both in the balls if I ever meet them. They seem to have shut up a bit with it though. But God, Teddy has like a word of the week calendar and this week it was "physicality". I wonder what it will be in week 2. Watch it be something like refined. All we'll hear about is refined boxing.

Or "good style matchup". Isn't every bout a style matchup? Let's play Teddy Bingo . . .I'll start the list :D If you took there words away from Atlas, you would just have a bunch of dead air.

physicality
stature
style matchup
awkward

Especially with Gavin out. Tischenko looked very sharp, good to see him back on form. The Cuban is up next, should be good.

What'd you do anyway, DC, that you're up this late? What part of PG are you from; or do you live in the District?

Been on vaca since Ringside. I knew I would want to catch this action and didn't want to Tivo all these hrs because I'd never get to it. I live in Charles County, 10-15 minutes from DC line.

Damn, don't know if I've been down to Charles. Used to live in Calvert though. That was a boring place.

Does your boy box for SRL? Any of you guys heading to the PAL?

Yeah, Calvert is way down there :D Used to be at SRL. We're at Dream Team now. It's in Clinton, MD.

Ah, up by Old School. Probably a bit closer to you too. Gotta beat having to drive to Palmer Park. How's Dusty Harrison doing these days? I remember seeing him box the night I had my first match at the Laurel Boys and Girls Club; he must have only been 8 or so back then.

Ugas looks strong too. I've been watching Taureano Johnson (BAH) 69kg and I really like his boxing. If Andrade and Johnson meet, that will be a really good match up.

Dream Team was opened by coach who used to be at Old School. Old School has moved to a different location a little further north (miles, not far). Dusty won the Jr. Golden Gloves and the Ringside this year at 13-14y.o. 112lb. He's getting really tall. I have vids of two of his bouts on the youtube page. He's go to have about 170 bouts or so now. He stays busy.

That's his first name. I really like Johnson. Gotta love that Carribean accent too. Sounds like a really nice kid. Like I said elsewhere, if Andrade were to be out I'd be rooting for Johnson. Can you imagine a kid from the Bahamas bringing a medal back?

Johnson is very strong, I think he would make an even better pro.

Btw If this is Cuba's weakest team in years then I'm impressed. All of their boxers Ive seen so far have shown great skills.

I was going to say, I thought Dusty had to have close to 200 fights by now. Buddy had wanted to talk to me after I had my first fight but I never did get a chance to talk to him. That kid is going to be real good when he gets a bit older; I couldn't believe it was him when I saw videos of him.

Interesting thing about Johnson is he trained in Cuba with their coaches. It shows.

Crazy. One of our guys from MT who went to the Olympic trials "only" has about 175-180 bouts and he's 20 now.
