I hope this backfires dreadfully, clearly Sky will be hyping this guy up beyond all recognition proclaiming him the next Edison Miranda and hoping they can dupe the general public into shelling out for this. If this is a success we can get used to a string of Khav V nobody PPVs for the next year or so, if it's a disaster then Warren will come under real pressure to deliver the goods.

If Sky had any sense they would have ensured the Warren's fee for PPV events was based on a percentage of the buys, therefore if Warren puts on a poor show that gets a poor amount of buys he suffers. Maybe that is the way the deal was structured but I seriously doubt it.

A ppv event? - What a fornicating liberty, £15 for what amounts to Khan in a learning fight and a domestic match up between Arthur and Cook.

Only someone with MUG printed on their forehead would buy this shat.

We can only hope it is a complete failure as a PPV event - Shame on you SKY.

Sounds like prescott mean Business!
Explosive showdown live and exclusive on Sky Box Office - British boxing superstar Amir Khan faces the fight of his life against Colombian powerhouse Breidis Prescott on September 6 at the M.E.N Arena in Manchester. The 25-year-old Colombian boasts a fearsome unbeaten record of 19 fights with 17 big knockout wins - a staggering 14 coming inside three rounds..

Khan, who is WBO #2, WBC #5 and IBF #10 ranked, has an equally impressive record - undefeated in 18 fights with 14 KO's - and recently stopped Michael Gomez in a thrilling five-round shoot out.

At nearly 6' Prescott, ranked #14 by the WBA, has boxed as high as light-welterweight before, will have a slight height advantage over Khan.

The pair will fight for Khan's WBO Intercontinental lightweight title at the M.E.N Arena that has seen some of the best fights in recent years including Ricky Hatton v Kostya Tszyu and Joe Calzaghe v Ricky Hatton.

And Khan is looking to put on an a great performance for his glittering debut on Sky Box Office, after promoter allegedly signed a new 20-fight deal with Britain's premier sports broadcaster.

"Prescott looks dangerous but he's just the kind of opponent I need at this stage of my career to get my fear instinct to kick in," said Khan.

"He may have been knocking them out left right and centre, but I'm going to make him wake up and smell the coffee!

"I've been working on my defensive skills with new coach Jorge Rubio, and it looks like Prescott will be testing out what I've been learning in the gym.

"Along with my strength and conditioning coach, I'm also punching harder than ever before, and I think my offensive skills are going to win my this fight.

"I love to entertain the crowd and the viewers on Sky Box Office, and I plan to go to war against Prescott. I won't be hiding from him - I'll go after him and try and knock him out like I do with all my opponents."

Hailing from Barranquilla, Colombia, Prescott was due to challenge for the WBA Fedalatin lightweight title before accepting this bout.

A man of few words, he said this morning: "Khan is just a boy. I'm will knock him out," he said this morning.
Sounds like Prescott mean's business, could be a tear up while it lasts!

Interesting stuff indeed. Where does this leave Setanta and Franky Boy? According to The Guardian, Setanta are struggling to balance the cash they have shelled out on the Footie with new subscribers. Throw in the credit crunch etc. and has Warren jumped from a sinking ship?

From ITV to SKY to ITV to Setanta to SKY...bloody hell he gets about a bit. Hope SKY aren't running an exclusive deal mind you and continue to show Hennessy, Maloney etc we all know how an exclusive deal can bring about matchups like, well err....Khan V Prescott!

Maybe Gilmour, Hennessy, Hearn and the likes will get some action on Setanta now? Or ITV could renew their interest. What a bloody mess

Is that a technicality which signifies no breach of contract with Setanta whose agreement, one assumes, is/was with SN?

lol. Remember, this guy is a young guy, a natural lightweight, who just has to land! If he comes in swinging and Khan comes out doing his sitting duck impression, it could be lights out. And if this guy is one of those dark horses who has been hanging around in the shadows but is relatively capable, of course he can stun the Mr Vulnerable... maybe he can even if he is a bum!

Skybet's Amir hype odds for Prescott: 9/1.

I would never pay for this as a PPV! This is nothing short of ridiculous.

People should boycott this so Warren realises he cannot mug boxing fans for their money for shows like this - if people buy this then its only a matter of time until sprott-skelton etc. end up on ppv!

The matchmakers will have done their homework(though I'm so mad at the fact that this is a PPV that I hope they haven't  ) and no doubt Prescott will not be upto much. The sad thing is, even though the card is shockingly poor for a PPV, it will probably do quite well - Khan is just a big a household name as Hatton if not more so and Joe Public doesn't have a clue who Manny Pacquiao, Nate Campbell and Joan Guzman are so Khan vs Prescott is just as appealing to them as Khan vs any of the aforementioned names.

You've seen who Prescott beat to get his ranking haven't you?
http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?hu ... &cat=boxer

The WBA is dead to me.

Might as well add my voice to the disbelief at this going PPV. Even HBO thought better of PPVing Mosley v Mayorga which is now on free HBO. Really puts this into perspective doesn't it.

Sky don't release their PPV figures so its unlikely we'll find out how poorly it did.

I suppose all we can do is vote with our wallets by not buying it

Im not buying this before i start !

when this was announced i asked some people who are arm chair boxing/khan fans if they are going to buy it

they all were, so i think it will do quite well on the PPV, not as good as Hatton v PBF but it will piss on Hatton v Maussa/Lascano etc figures

Again... im not buying it !!!
