My Father was a Professional Boxer in the UK in the 60's. He has a record of around 30 fights. The record on this website only shows 1 fight with Ken Buchanan. He told me he fought Howard Winstone, Gerry Mc Bride, George O' Neill, Peter Lavery and LOTS of others. I would REALLY appreciate ANY info on my Dad's fighting record. THANK YOU !

Sorry Martin, I don't recognise your father's name from Howard Winstone's record unless he fought him as an amateur.

Was that a typo, or do you spell your surname (Smyth) different to your father (Smith)?

I'll try and find out some more about him, the name is Smyth, the Buchanen entry is wrong, I am about to correct it. I can't see him fighting Winstone either, so it must have been as an amateur, I will look through some old boxing News and try and find out more about him and his record

I have found some results for Brian Smyth, from Belfast. In fact there were two Brian Smith's around at the time one Smith and one Smyth, I assume your dad was the one from Belfast, the other was from Porthcawl in Wales, in fact they fought each other, must have been a commentators nightmare!

I have now entered another 16 fights for Brian Smyth, and according to the British Boxing yearbook he fought 31 times between 1960 and 1968 so there are still 14 unaccounted for so I will keep checking

I want to thank Kevin for his help in putting together these 31 fights. If any has any more information I would appreciate it. I am also going to try and find any newspaper reports about my father's fights. THANK YOU

No problem, as I said in my e-mail I will try and help as much as possible, I am glad that the record has given you and your family so much pleasure.

I must thank Bob Mee, for tracking down the last eight fights for me.
