Brodie-Chi II
Brodie-Chi II
Apologies if this has been covered in another thread already (can't find one) but what did we all make of the fight, pretty predictable stuff right? Chi is a big Featherweight and a monster who keeps marching forward and banging away, Brodie i felt was never going to have enough to beat him. Brodie should go and look to win a fringe world title because he will only decline from now on, his chin and swelling problems can only get worse. Chi will be avoided still but i am sure he could give any of the top ten a good fight. Chi-Pacquiao would be a war!
Chi definitely looked much bigger and stronger. The best thing he did was assert himself as soon as the fight started. He jumped on Brodie, and Brodie never really got into the fight. Before the fight SKY showed some interview clips where Brodie and his trainer said he needed to use lateral movement, and stay away from the ropes. Well Brodie did exactly what he wasn't supposed to do, he didn't use enough movement, and he got pushed back against the ropes. He just wasn't at the races really, Chi was on top from the get go. Chi reminds me of Mayorga, although he's a little more disciplined with less power. Chi can definitely be outboxed, Brodie just wasn't strong enough to keep him at bay.

What's next for both fighters then? Chi is knocking on a bit so a super fight has to be around the corner for him surely, let's see if his promoters can deliver. As for Brodie i am not certain where he will end up, on this display i am sure even an unfit Naz would spark him but i doubt that fight will be made now, Brodie-Harrison will be a good fight if it is made although Harrison must surely be favourite.
The quick conclusion of the Brodie/Chi fight allowed Sky to show the extraordinary Jones/Rhodes fight. What a final round!
Darkes "Oh dear, Rhodes is fighting with his face a bit", line was straight out of the top drawer. Rhodes went beserk.
I imagine he'll be kicking himself most of this week.
Yep, Rhodes was doing very well until he caught Jones then he stopped thinking and went all out.
