Chacon vs Limon 4!

Post by Rocky Balboa »

Last night, I watched this bout in my honest opinion, its the best bout I've ever seen, EVER! There is no praise high enough for this fight. If anyone wants to see athletes giving their all, putting it on the line, sacrificing so much, I would suggest they watch this bout.

I've seen Corrales-Castillo 1, Barrera-Morales 1, & all the other great, great bouts over the years. Chacon-Limon 4 was the ONE I hadn't seen. It was worth the wait, I can tell you that! I've never seen anything like it, NEVER!

I know I'm going to keep watching this bout over & over again for the next couple of weeks. Got to study the bout.

What do you guys remember or think of this one?

Chacon did it for Valerie. I cannot watch it, though, without feeling a little uneasy. Manila all over again.

Good point made their mate. Whenever I watch a fight where both guys give all they have, put it all on the line, one has to wonder why they do it & how will sacrificing so much affect them when all is said & done?

Takes a rare breed, a rare type of fighter to put on performances of the nature of Chacon-Limon.

BTW, did anyone else think the one point margin for Chacon was pretty sympathetic to Limon? If Chacon didn't get that last round knockdown, the fight would only have been a draw. I always felt Chacon should've been well ahead going into that last round.

The selfish pr*ck did it for himself. Valerie never wanted that. She wanted him to retire.
It sadden me to see these kind of remarks made by somebody that most likely didn't know Bobby and Valerie personally like some of us in the west coast did/do.

Bobby Chacon is one of my favorite fighters. I don't know which fight was his defining fight. Either it was his bout with Danny Lopez or with Bazooka Limon IV...I got to say that his defining fight was with Bazooka Limon, the last match. What a fight!!!. Probably with Leonard vs Hearns I, it was the best fight that I have ever seen in my life...NO question about that.

I think that the last fight with Limon was his greatest fight. He was considered washed up by many, and pulled it off in front of his home crowd fans. :TU: :TU: :TU:

Elmer,

That last Limon fight was in Sacramento, which is NOT Bobby's home town...

He had moved to Oroville, North of Sac., but by the time of that fight he was back in the SFV.

Great, great fight, Arguello vs Pryorr was the technically better fight between two greater skilled fighters but for pure heart, excitement and simple toe to toe slugging there isnt a fight to beat Chacon vs Limon 4. Sometimes I feel guilty watching Bobbys fights, in light of whats happened to him in recent years, but though it might sound corny, I do believe bobby enjoyed fighting and those fights are his legacy and so it would be hypocritical to try and aviod them... would bobbys life have turned out better if he'd not become a boxer... not something for me to answer, but he certainly wouldnt have touched the people he has touched in his life through his career and his fights did indeed touch and inspire me when I was a young kid... even though he paid a price, he showed that you can do the seemingly impossible...
