why does Shaw have to wait for Warren to show his figures first?

why doesn't he prove that it was no where near a million by showing his now? maybe he's knows Frank wont want to show his numbers, so he wont have to show his.

it's a mess. a promoters word against a promoters word.

Really looking forward to Warren's response to this.

Why not release the numbers, and call Shaw's bluff? They released the Pinto numbers to back up the SN argument last time.

So you'd really expect them to now, and clear up why Hatton is turning down an overdue world title shot, on homeground no less.

This is the deal ,Just imagine that a promoter we shall call him Ernest (then nobody can say we are referring to any particular promoter).
Now ernest gets £1 million from the TV to put on a fight between his top fighter( we shall call him Rico Hattersley just so we are not refering to any particular fighter) and another fighter.
Now ernest pays rico £250,000 now whatever the least amount ernest can pay the opponent the more profit for him.So along comes Sammy Mitchum the top US Champ in Ricos division and says he will fight Rico for £500,000.Ernest weighs up the figures and realises he is only making £250,000 after paying both fighters, after all he has to pay the undercard so it would be even less than that. But Rico Hattersley sells out the M.A.N Arena in Macclesden witch holds about 16,000 people, now if they all paid £30 that would equate to £480,000 but as u know the prices are much higher. So ernest decides to get a different opponent which costs him £60,000 so he has saved himself £440,00 pounds.Does he pass it on to his fighter Rico? nope he buys rico a £60,000 car on HP as a gift and keeps the rest for himself. Now heres the problem what does Ernest tell the TV company? Mmmmmmm let me think? thats it he tells the TV that the American champ has priced himself out off the fight,so the public and the TV company dont get to see the fight they want because greedy Ernest is taking all the cash.
So all of us who watch Stratosphere TV and pay for the sports channel to watch boxing in the hope that one day we will see a fight we want to see,the reality of it all is ,it will never happen.Thats why Rico Hattersley,Jody Kawazaki and Jack Nielson will never be in big unification fights cos greedy ernest wont reduce his take ,he is used to living the high life like when he used to promote sheikh hasbeen ham head.
So until the TV company gives ernest the boot u will never see good fights on your digital channel.Oh then one day Rico wises up to all the gifts he is getting and decides to go to the US and get the big fightds with HBO.So what does ernest do ?remeber the £60,000 car he bought Rico as a gift,he stops pay the installments so the credit agency go to Ricos to get the car back.Rico tells them Ernest bought him the car as a gift, then the penny drops!!!!!!!!

No he's not - if he were talking about Hatton and his promoter-who-shall-remain nameless, Eric the Viking's originally-novocaine-induced-but-now-purely-psychosomatic lisp would be very much in evidence, but since EtV is not sounding like Elmer Fudd, we know that's not the case.

So there. ;)

I don't see the problem, what is wrong with paying Sharmba 1million , He is the champ and deserves to be paid top dollars, Tszyu gets paid a lot more than that and Mitchell is a big draw card for Hatton in the states.

Hattons management could make a lot more if Hatton beat Mitchell so wouldn't it be worth the risk, its not like they would lose out if they paid Mitchell what he wanted.

Sharmba Mitchell does not sell tickets or PPV. He's worth $200k at the most.

just as an aside.... Sharmba Mitchell got more than Kosta Tszyu did when they fought.... even though Kosta was recognised as the man....

he got over a $1m for that fight.... Kosta got $900k

Sounds like they drive an inflated opinion of themselves then IMO.

really Im surpised by that apparently he wanted 40% more than what was agreed to fight Kostya in Russia pre the injury.
Could be the rising pound / Dollar ratio also.

I find it hard to believe Sharmba got more than Kostya, how on earth could that be, if it was a mandatory defence, which I think it was, it goes to purse bids, and the champion normally gets the lion share.

since when has Sharmba been a draw, answer, never...

This business about Frank opening his books seems ludicrous, no promoter in their right mind is going to put all their figures in the public domain, and Shaw knows this damned well....

Agreed Frank merely alluded to the fact that you cant run a show at a loss and the demands of the mitchell camp far outstripped their pulling capacity.

the words about a million all in were most definitely used I can assure you.

I think this is all just smoke and mirrors myself, I don't think there is any emnity involved between Frank and Gary Shaw, though of course I could be entirely wrong, they've worked together before, and I think this could just be a means of building the fight up to have at a later date.

I will be dissapointed if Hatton doesn't fight Mitchell, and surely it's a wise move because then Hatton could win a genuine world title.

However, a fight against Arturo Gatti would be much bigger box office, who knows, maybe they are holding out for that opportunity.

The truth is, title aside, what does Mitchell have to offer in terms of pulling power, he's hardly charismatic is he?

totally agree mate, Hatton would love to fight Gatti also.
Now thats fight you would pay a mill for Mitchell simply doesnt pull enough interest nor punters to command that type of purse IMO.

I don't think Hatton earns any more for fighting Mitchell than he would for Pinto, but then there's the title.

Hatton v Gatti on the other hand, would be an ENORMOUS PPV.

Stuff it, they should stick Hatton in with Gatti next fight after this June 5th lark. Gatti's ready, it'd be a barn-burner, just stop prevaricating. I see there's another 'top 10 opponent' promise, without stating the weight division and not allowing for last minute contractual wrangles.

If Shaw's peeved at Warren for Mitchell, however, is he going to want to tango for a Gatti bout? Is there loyalty in boxing promotion? Or is this a silly question?

With regard to Mitchell's fee, yes he's the champ and should be paid in respect of that. However, he couldn't sell out a corner shop. The guy's always fought on the road because his home town fans aren't keen. He's never headlined a Vegas show (other than the Tszyu bout), and other than that only against N'Dou has he headlined as world champ, and against Tackie in the eliminator. Even fighting in his home town against Pedro Saiz he was bumped down the card by Hopkins and Holmes (I think). This is not a guy who can command top dollar. Shaw might be holding out for big bucks but Mitchell even with a belt on the bill is no draw.

There is just so much money in boxing it is insane all the deals that go down how much everyone gets paid the cut everything there is no miniture thing about boxing is a big business and the business booms when the GOOD fighters and champs fight each other but when people like Mitchell who are not a huge draw want money like that to fight a top fight when they know they are not gonna get that money it is really bad for the business.
